Indiana eliminated their inventory tax, last year for it was 2007. Don't know why you were still paying it in Indiana in 2010..
BTW, I just did a search for inventory tax and found a page that says there's 15 states with that tax:
Alaska

You are correct, my mistake. Its a business property tax and I've already requested an appeal with documentation to back it up. I'll probably still lose.

schools around here wanted a property tax increase .. voters turned it down.. now they need to cut $2.7 million from the budget...and this is in a town of around 14,000 people.......I can only imagine what they actually spend every year..
I can only speak for Kentucky, but......yes to everything you said!

Worst is if you move into MD they require you to pay tax on the value of your car when you register it which is about equal to a sales tax if you were to purchase it that day from a car lot. So you pay taxes on your car a second time????
In Kentucky, we pay a tax on our automobiles.......every year!
This is a separate tax from the sales tax you also pay when you purchase the auto.

Same in Counties in Virginia. We pay twice a year for vehicles. My Property tax on vehicles is estimated to be between $650-$700 total for three vehicles. I even pay a tax on each of my three dogs.
