Walkthrough of a brand new Chuck E. Cheese in 1983

Man, that's only a few miles from my house... I never knew there was a CeC at 43rd and Thomas. Whoa.

Yeah, that video just made me nostalgia. HARD. :(

Consider that many of the games that are in the video that are now considered "classics", and yet basically ALL of them were released within about a year of each other! How many years has it been since we had a single year than more than ONE noteworthy arcade game was released??? Really puts things in to perspective if you think about it that way...

Yep, that era of games will always be the best, and I really don't think you had to live through it to appreciate them. Imagine some of those games in that CEC surviving all this time only to be parted out by a greedy or lazy klover. Really puts it in perspective when you think about it that way...

Or worse, the fact that most CEC's destroyed their games when they had no use for them.. - Barry

So how many had the opportunity to have at least one birthday at a CEC...I had one..can't remember how old..somewhere between age 9-11...I remember spinning the token wheel to see how much free play I was getting for my buds at the party....good times...technology was a lot simplier and people still actually went out and socialized to have fun....today everyone plays games at home and no one talks..they text...:D

I worked as a Gameroom Attendant at Chuck E Cheese while in High School, so I was the first to play a lot of the new games when they came in :D

I never had a birthday party at CEC,but I did have one at Showbiz Pizza. Most of my earliest childhood arcade memories come from this Showbiz near where we lived. We usually only went to CEC when we were nearby or if Showbiz was too busy. both were cool places, but I thought Showbiz was cooler. :D Pistol Pete's Pizza was pretty kick ass too.

I never went to a CEC but I do remember being at a Showbiz in Omaha. Can't remember the year but I do remember watching the Rockafire Explosion. I must have been fairly young because all the robots creeped me out. We didn't get to play in the arcade on that trip.

I had a couple at Showbiz too (we didn't have CEC). Definitely had lots of fun there. My mom used to take us there on Friday nights, but the rule was we had to be home by 9pm so she could watch Dallas :D (VCR's were still way too expensive then)

Cool video. It's almost like walking into an old haunted CEC. Empty building with the sounds of games gone by in the distance.

I have fallen into a timewarp flood of memories! WOW!! I can remember things from the CEC in Albany that I didn't before I saw this! WOW WOW WOW! I can clearly remember the day we took my younger brother for his 4th birthday!

I tracked this place down about a year ago while I was in the area. It's still a pizza place - a Pistol Pete's now I think. The years have not been kind to the building or the neighborhood, for that matter.

The purists among us will be happy to know that the restaurant still has a few video games in it. If I can find the crappy cell phone pics I took of the place, I'll post 'em.

Sorry - no ball pit, no animatronics. Same inedible pizza, I'm sure.

Pete

yes i miss these places dearly.. There the main reason i fell in love with arcade games . PTT, Showbiz Pizza place where the greatest places too have arcade games back in the 80's

I had a few parties at Showbiz as a kid. I'm trying to remember the games they had, but all I can think of are a Space Shuttle pin, a Chexx bubble hockey, an arm wrestling game where you would actually arm wrestle, and skeeball. I'm thinking it was either '86 or '87.

They still have a Jack In The Box there?!?!

Jack in the Boxxies never die. They're all over the place in AZ. Their Ultimate Cheeseburger (without the ketchup and mustard, which they recently added, and is wrong) is the greasy shizz...
