Do You Play the Game a lot? Do you like to play it? Why do you own a Wacko? I find myself wanting to finish the clean-up on it so I can just get it into the game room already and start playing the shit out of it. Every time I do a little work on it, I fire it up and play a game or 2. I love it. Am I alone?

I own it and love it. I play it anytime I power up the arcade. Anyone that comes over and has never heard of it ends up loving it. The cabinet usually gets there attention. I have never played Kozmik Krooz'r that I believe Wack is the sequel to. Why I own it? I wish I could say that I desired the game but I bought with a lot deal. Maybe it makes me a fan by circumstance but I am keeping it that is for sure.

I go in streaks of playing it. I had some decent scores going (150,000) or so, but then I tested another board in there and it erased my high scores, so I haven't been as into it for a few months. I love the game, and it's right next to my Kozmik Krooz'r now.

Just the 3 of us, eh? Cool. I like to travel light. I don't know, the game for me is just pure fun. You get the satisfaction of clearing boards, like Asteroids or Space Invaders, yet the graphics are cooler; you get cool little monster/alien mutants, which I like; it's space-themed, like many of my favorite games; and the trackball/Joystick combo is a sweet controller set-up that takes a while to master. Put it all in a fucking whacked out cabinet package and I think you have a winner. Other than Star Wars, it seems like very few games that came out in 83 get much love. I think this game is under-appreciated. Glad I finally own one.

I don't own one, but I make a point to play it every year at CAX as it is a lot of fun. I have hesitated to consider adding one to my lineup because it appears to me that the game play would get tedious. Specifically the early rounds would get boring and one would "top out" as to how far you can get. I ended up selling my Nibbler because of this. Thoughts?

I played it for the first time at the Seattle Show last year. I enjoyed it, and look forward to playing it again, but with limited space I don't think it's cracked the "buy if available and replace something else" list.

I really can't say if that would happen to me or not. Remember, I still like Popeye and Galaxian. I like the simple games. This is simple, but gets heated enough that it keeps me coming back. I guess I really don't play my games constantly either. I think that helps with the burn out thing. Fire them up once a week, play a few, leave em on for while, shut em off for another week.

I have only got through about 10-13 levels, but it changes up nicely each level you get through. I personally don't think I will ever get bored with this one. It's a great game!

I really enjoy mine. I like the cab and the art plus the game is fun. Like you said Phet it is kinda like Popeye which I also love in that you always think you can do a little better on your next game.

Wacko

I love mine and play it when I can pry myself away from Zookeeper. Mine sits next to my kosmik krooz'r also. I played it when I was a kid so I have fond memories. I've had 2 others and both times I regretted getting rid of them. This one is here to stay. I still have to unbox the spare control panel I got from Dylan.

Funspot just got one fairly recently and when I was up there last Nov it was getting probably the most love of any game on the floor.

I didn't know this game from the arcade days; dicovered it after starting collecting. One became available for a great price and even though I had never played it, I had to get it, couldn't pass it up. The cabinet design was just too cool.

On game play at first, I couldn't get into it. Thought it was a bit too hard to be any fun. It took a while, but I truly love it now and definitely would never part with it. You can definitely get better at the game with practice.

I know of an example owned by someone on the original design team in my area that's in absolutely perfect cosmetic condition. Doesn't work and the owner just won't part with it. I offered to get it going for him and he won't even accept that. It just sits there. Now that's a "lot at the cool game I have" example.

GREAT GAME!

Yeah, she needs new T-molding, but after reassembly, a good cleaning and a monitor, Wacko joins the line-up at The Outer Limits. I am just happy it's clean and it works. I also found a new (permanent) home for my Alien Syndrome topper. It just looks right up there (and it fits nicely).

What are the production numbers on Wacko? I think my serial number is in the low 300's. Was there ever a cocktail released? (I doubt it, but you never know)

There was one, but it proved unpopular as all the drinks would slide off the top. :D

Yeah this thread's getting about as much attention as the Knob Kissing Booth Fritz opened at the Idaho State Fair last year. ($5 per kiss, and YOU did all the kissing).

I love wacko. The first arcade auction i went to (1998) there was a non working wacko there. I remember the owner was p.o'd that he couldn't get it going and had to put it in the dead game row. Knowing what i know now, i so wished i would have picked it up.

...

I have a Wacko!!! Id never sell it. Dont love the game, but I love the cabinet.
Phetishboy, put some effin t-molding on it (goddamn it).

Jon

LOL!

It certainly wasn't as popular as his Wack-A-Hole game the previous year.

Edit:
I can't imagine that any operator would ever convert a Wacko, I figure most Wackos were put in storage or tossed.
