Thanks to a very generous trade by Gamingdevice (Mike) my storage unit is full again. Yesterday, I drove up to Dallas to look at 3 empty Joust cabinets. After checking them out, we started a 2 second negotiation that went something like this,
Me - "How much?"
Mike - "I'll help load"

Shortly after, the pickup truck I borrowed from Mr. Budget looked like this:

and we were heading down the road back to Houston.

This morning I took the cabs over to the storage unit and while poking through them I found this tucked inside a Superman manual I found in the bottom of one of the cabinets (the one that had been converted to Superman, of course):

So in all a good day. I got to spend 8 hours driving with my wife, I got 3 Joust cabinets for the cost of driving a rental pickup to Dallas and found a schematic for the original arcade switchers. But my storage unit is full, again :(

You could always give me a game or two! Just kidding. But seriously, whoever just slapped that Tetris decal over the original Joust artwork without even repainting it was pretty lazy. What do you plan to do with the cabs? Multiwilliams, or restore back to Joust?

Joust Cabs

Be careful storing those Joust cabs too close together, they willl multiply when no one is looking..

Mike (gamingdevice) is a generous man and a good guy to know when it comes to fixing stuff. Just wish he wasn't all the way over on the other side of town. Thanks to Yellowdog btw for helping me unload the rest of my Williams stuff. I have a room back now. 2 more rooms to go.

I'm starting to see why there are no Joust games available in the mid-atlantic region.. They all flew south for the Winter!! :(

I saw a pic like that a while back, it was DJW90 with Defenders in the back of his truck. He picked up one and the other two just jumped in the truck as he drove by.

I agree about the lazy SOB that stuck stickers over the artwork. Hopefully a little heat gun action will peel them right off.

You might want to change your username from Yellowdog to Mr. Joust there Ken.

I'm in a rut. What can I say. Empty cabinets have been few and far between around here lately. Most look like they were either used as a sponge or their current owners seem to think that because they are heavy, they are lined with gold bricks. So I get what I can, when I can. I'm just sorry I wasn't able to get to SA before Dale did. Sounds like some good deals were had out there....:(

If only it was that easy to grow an empty Sinistar cabinet...

I agree Mike was very generous. I just wish we'd had more time to chat. He has quite a neat collection of project machines hiding out back. It would have been fun getting the back stories of some of that stuff. As it is, the Joust that was converted to a Superman had a Corpus Christi tax sticker on it. So how did that end up in Dallas? If these cabs could only talk....

Pat, you are more than welcome. Some of that stuff is going to find new homes in (....wait for it...) some Joust cabinets I just happen to have acquired :D.
