My MC monitor has died, and my new monitor only have CSync.....so i was wondering..
Does VSync + HSync = CSync??? or is there another way?

Usually, yes. But Missile Command, by default, uses positive sync, and if you have a monitor that only takes csync, it's probably not going to accept positive sync.

IIRC, there is a negative csync output on the board though, but there isn't a wire in the harness for it. You can add one though.

If your new monitor has composite sync only, then it probably has a sync sensing circuit, too. Try connecting the comp sync output of the board to it and see what happens.

otherwise, you could try just connecting the h-sync of the MC to it and seeing if it works. Some new monitors sync on the h-sync only...

You don't have to buy a new monitor. There are ways around it to make it work, i.e. sync splitters, LPFs, inverters, etc. PM me offline and we can talk about it.

Well.... an update..
The reason why i wanted the new monitor in the cab was this:

I thought the monitor was broken, but i had another monitor (old one) and the image that came up on that one was the same as the one in the MC cab... :( :( :(

Well, now i have to buy a new MC PCB....
Thanks to all who helped me here!!! really apriciated it!

BTW - that Crown chassis looks very similar to the TruTech chassis someone posted recently, and both look like a version of the Promax from a while back. I'm guessing the same company made all three...

Similar problem with sync Atari ROTJ PCB Someone can help me?

Hi to all of you.
Best regards from Europe.
Searching information about Atari Return of the Jedi PCB I have discovered this awesome page so I have decided to join this community.
I have lots of jamma pcbs but little experience with old atari pcbs and I am trying to make an adaptor to jamma for a ROTJ arcade pcb.
The pcb has been verified as working but after feeding it with proper voltages no picture is shown.
According to original atari manual ROTJ pcb has negative compsync and also separate positive hsync and vsync.
I have wired compsync to my jamma harness and I get no image.
Should I join positive hsync and vsync to the compsync jamma connector input?
My monitor is a hantarex 9110.
Compsync = hsync + vsync for this game?

Thank you so much in advance.

How are you connecting the negative composite sync to the 9110? It needs to go to the negative horizontal pin only.

Even if the sync was bad, you'd still get SOMETHING on the screen if the RGB and Ground was hooked up properly, and your board was working. it would look like a scrambled picture.

Are you sure this monitor works? Do you get a white screen when you turn up the brightness?

And welcome to the group. If you continue to have problems, try starting a new thread so we can help you. Some people skip over old threads if the title doesn't interest them...

Hi!
Thank you for your welcome and fast answer!
I finally got something. Garbage after remaking the incorrect adaptor I had made previosly. Now the rotj compsync is wired to jamma compsync and got garbage. Should I wire the jamma compsync to hsync pcb?

combining the separate vsync and hsync will NOT give you comp sync. Yes, connect the -comp sync directly to the -horiz pin on the 9110....

Rotj working thank you so much!!!

Thank you so much.
That was the solution.
I wired as you adviced and I got garbage again until I shaked connectors and the game was shown correctly. There was a cold junction. I have to change my soldering iron (it was made in West Germany in 1979 and my father gave it to me some years ago) or I have to learn to make good soldering. :)
Best regards.
