I'm trying to find some pic's of Mark Spaeth's vs switchers. This device would let you switch between two rom sets on one UniSystem board. And looking for more info on how it works. I have a Dr. Mario board and would like to add Super Mario Bros. to the other side of my board.
Unless there is another way or better way to switch between games on one monitor. Any feedback would help. Thanks Long Hair

This is information I would also like to get. I wouldn't mind a simple switcher to switch between two boards either, but being able to switch between left and right side would be great too

It connects between your harness and the board. You press three buttons at once (1P-Start, 2P-Start, and one of the 1P buttons?) and it switches games. That's about it.

I have a couple but would have to pull cabs to get pictures as they are both installed. I am not sure if a pic would help you as its not a wire only or a 'jumper' solution. In short...there are all the necessay components to intercept and act on the game switch trigger. It's been years since I have taken more than a casual glance but I do recall at least one relay and a host of other devices. I want to say Mark implemented a lot of it in surface mount parts.

That is his Vs to Jamma, not the Vs Switcher the OP was asking about. They are similar though. I've got one I tested in my Red Tent, but still need to permanently install it.

I see. It does, however, have the same game switching functionality. So most of the surface mount ICs seen on it would be the same (minus the inverter and amp).

I'm guessing that I can use a 2 to 1 Parallel Printer Switchbox with DB25 Female Ports to switch between both half's of the board. It would be cheaper and easier to find. And there is no need to switch off the power, there's only one board. You guys think this would be a good idea or is there a problem doing this way? Thanks to all for the info so far.

I agree on the power. If memory serves its all shared. If the board has power both sides run...you just see one side on a single monitor setup.

Total guess without seeing the wiring diagram you would have to switch:
4 wires per joy = 8
A and B button per player = 4
Player start buttons = 2
Coin switches = 2
Video - RGB Sync Grnd = 5

So, about 21 wires. Perhaps add a wire if the ground for all the switches is not shared side to side.

Anything is doable. Video may be an issue by the time you extend it so far and pass it through some contacts in the switch.

Have you e-mailed Mark to see if he has anymore of the switchers?
