Vs. Tetris Thread

Yeah I know the feeling. I have 3 right now that are doa. Two were from DaveZ ... man that felt bad to even say. lol

Whats wrong with them? Are they totaly dead? Reseting? ..

One has been gun-modded and one side has bad PPU connection resulting in the game being predominantly green though slightly viewable/playable. The other side has scratchy black backgrounds and is overly saturated. I've checked all aspects of the board and, except for the modifications, it looks fine. Can't seem to figure out where the problem lies.

The other two boards showed up with acid damage and missing capacitors among other abuses. I tried to salvage one board and resolder the more complete one but it still didn't work. Now both those boards are pretty much parts pieces.

Hmm are you sure the PPU connection is what is making it green and maybe not a bad green pot?

Not for certain. I will check the green pots again tonight but when I went over them they looked alright. What made me think it was the 6-8 side PPU connection was that the 1-2 side has an oversaturated black problem with scratchy lines. It's real weird on the other side. For instance, I had Pinball in that side and the black background had small horizontal blank lines in it. Doesn't seem to effect other colors however.

hah switched those number around. Oh well. i was close. You got the point though right? ... Wouldn't have hurt to try 010 twice, just to make sure.

I don't need your 'help' to get the point. If you're going to post a sequence, at least post a logical sequence. A simple grey code would ensure the minimum number of switch flips and ensure you try all combinations quickly.

Plus... if you read his post he wants the actual positions the dips should be in. so 1's and 0's aren't in the equation. If you are seriously starting a fight on the internet you need another hobby except trolling for mistakes in people's posts. I honestly hate when people around here do this. Oh well, as is life.

Oh and i forgot to ask... what did I do to you exactly?

Don't sweat it John. Some guys just think they are better than others. Some even believe they don't make mistakes. It's the world we live in. I wouldn't take offense. You're a great asset and helpful just like most guys in here.

And Hudson's post made sense to me, flipping those damn little switches suck, and I would want to get it done logically and quickly as to not repeat any combinations and waste time.

I had to turn the white balance down to stop it from looking like the original picture.

Yes, but that has nothing to do with coloring. That is difficulty i think.

I pm'd you to say, if your colors match what i have then the dip switches aren't going to help. The dips for color are 6, 7, and 8. You can use any combination of these to change the colors but the colors i thought looked the best are apparently 6, 7, and 8 off.

So I tried 6 on, 7 on and 8 on. Then 7 and 8 on together (which sucked). So far I have had a light blue background, a grey background, a red background and a black background. I'll need to check again to see which dips changed it to which colors. My favorite is the light blue background, but my wife wants it to be a black background. I'll get this dialed in yet.

Thanks, I'll have to look and see which dip I have flipped. I only lose a bit of text in the title screen, but the game screen looks great. We also had the NES version going at the same time, man is that one a helluva lot easier!
