Hello. My vs Super Mario recently started having lines running through the monitor

I have no idea what the mfg is on the monitor, if thats important.
I tried adjusting the brigh/contrast with no results. Any ideas? thanks.

The monitor definitely needs a cap kit... you've got jailbars, dim screen, and now retrace lines from the screen control being turned up too high. Recap it and the jailbars and dim screen should go away, then turn the screen control on the flyback and it should look great.

I was afraid of that. I've never done a recap on a monitor. I've done them on pc motherboards so I'm confident I can do it (just gotta find the time).
So how do I find the mfg of this monitor? I looked inside and can only see a sticker with numbers & warnings on the tube itself. Nothing on the boards or chassis.

Yeah bob is a good place to get most parts, so if I were you I would go over the whole game and see what else you may need to get it all at once.

Well I did the cap kit and it fixed the jailbars real nice. But now I notice small lines going horizontally across the screen. Can only see it when the screen is on a dark scene.

Any ideas about this one?

Turn down the screen or brightness. There is also a sub-brightness pot on the chassis. One of those is up too much. It's cranked.

I was just about to say never mind, I found the sub brightness & adjusted that & now it looks as good as new. thanks to everyone for your help.

I'm eventually gonna have to do some re-caps on my Nintendo monitors. I actually have an extra that works and another Sharp XM201(?) that was purchases in an unknown condition for very cheap.

do you have to do anything on the neckboard? I always thought those frames were funny cause it like encases everything. lol

also, aren't these the monitors that have no polarity markings on them? I know Nintendo posts on the boards what capacitance/resistance/whatever each component should be (cool feature) but can't remember polarity markings.

these are probably the best looking monitors btw

Yeah, everything was marked very clearly on the board, both on the bottom & component side. It wasn't too hard to do. I couldn't remove the board completely due to wires connected, but I did have plenty of room to solder.
I did have to remove the neck board so I had more room to move the main board around. But no components were replaced on the neck board.

I usually take the thing all the way out of the frame anymore, so it's less of a hassle flipping it over and things, it's kind of a tedious process with the sanyo's, but it's worth the trouble.
