I'm new here and all, so I thought I'd post a little of my past works for y'all to get to know me better. My arcade game was/is Vs. Super Mario Bros. I saw the deal on craigslist - "MARIO BROS ARCADE - $100" No pictures. I decided to call and see. She described it as a red machine that played the "original" mario bros. I was assuming it was a wide body Mario bros cab that had been repainted. I go to pick it up, and find that it's a horribly beat up Vs. SMB cab. It was a DK Jr. Conversion. Surprisingly, everything except the sound works. So I bought it and brought it home. Here's what it first looked like:

It was a long and pain staking restore, and over the next few days I'll go over the process I took to make it look like this!

By the way, It's not completely finished. I do need some T-molding still, but I'm so lazy. Oh so lazy.

Thanks for looking guys!

OH duh, Yes I did. It just needed a cap kit! After that it played flawlessly. It looked horrible, but the insides were surprisingly clean, and well kept. I even found around $7 worth of quarters and other change.

Great job! I have yet to find loads of change in a machine I picked up. When I got my Zaxxon I found 2 tokens and $0.75 in quarters

Also was this the particle board version or plywood version of the cabinet?

The very first thing I did after dissembling the cab, was to restore the coin door and mechs.
It went from this:

to this:

Not perfect, but it looked good to me!

Then, I had to start striping the thick red paint. It was fairly difficult, and it took a long time.

It was at this point that I started to realize that the cab was once a DK Jr. The more orange I unearthed, the more excited I became. Next I had to repair a lot of the damage that had been done to the plywood. It was honestly like someone had started gnawing on the bottom of the cabinet, which you can see in the coin door pictures. More pictures soon!

The only reason I link the pictures is because they are so large, haha.

Michael freaking Thurston?? It's Bibin from MR! Glad to see you here too.

If you convert this to a DKJR, I'd be happy to buy the Vs. SMB kit parts from you. I have a VS Unisystem Hogan's Alley I'm working on but I'd rather see it as a VS SMB.

Hey Bibin! Long time no see. How's life treatin' ya?

Haha I'm keeping this thing a VS. SMB. I finished this cab a few years back, I'm just posting it here to show some of my work! I love VSMB, it's a good game!

If you ever find another cab like that in Texas let me know.. Ive been looking for one to do a playchoice "Wild Gunman."

Hopefully the next cab I find is a Donkey Kong! I'm crazy about finding one to restore.

Anyways, More progress! Here's some pictures of when I started to get it painted. It wasn't a perfect match, but It looks good, pictures don't do it justice.

I also started fixing the gnawed front edges. I used locktite epoxy. It's my favorite.

And here she is running, before I installed the side art, and before I adjusted the monitor, or fixed the sound!

That's basically all I've done to it to this day, the finished pictures are in the first post. I'll take some more pictures soon, after I finally get around to ordering new T-molding.
