I just picked up a Vs. Super Mario Brothers cabinet in pretty great shape. Monitor could use some work... but I digress...

Are the locks on the coin doors specific to Nintendo? The one in there now (busted) protrudes out almost 1/2 an inch. I'm probably being too anal and can use whatever lock I want... but what have you guys used on a Nintendo cabinet?

Also, What are the original colors of the buttons for a Vs. Super Mario Brothers?

Every cab I have seen has a different button color scheme. Black, Blue, Red, Green, Orange, white. All mixed up.

For 1 and 2 players, do the button colors typically correspond with the labels?

I think the color scheme should be as follows:

P1 Start - Blue
P2 Start - Green

P1 Controls:
B - Red
A - Black

P2 Controls:
B - Red
A - Orange

Opinions?

Thanks!

All Vs. UniSystem conversion cabinets look like this although the color and marquee can vary depending on preference (blue, orange or red).

The lock should not protrude out. I use 7/8" cam locks from Bob Roberts (http://therealbobroberts.net/parts.html#hardware).

The buttons should look as pictured (1P-Blue, 2P-Green, B-Red, A-Black). The multiple color schemes you've seen are the result of buttons being replaced with random colors.

The side art I have applied is also original.
