Vs Super Mario Bros high score save and freeplay attract

I believe you mean the title screen during attract mode. There are a couple reasons why I didn't mess with that. Since I kept all the coinage settings available, I would have had to hack in more conditional code to modify or remove that text if freeplay was enabled, and it didn't seem worth the risk or effort. Secondly, I thought it looked weird.... at least it looked odd when I put "FREE PLAY" there. Maybe it would look OK if the text was just removed, but I didn't try that.

There is one more place that "INSERT COIN" can show up when freeplay is enabled.... Bonus points to the first person who finds it. :D

I have a test of only the high score save. No freeplay. Works great. souzilla is doing a great job so far. I look forward to the final release. I am sure he can tell you all about it! :D
 
Thanks for the reply. I can't wait, almost don't want to play until I have it as not to lose anymore scores..
 
Got mine. Didn't think it worked at first. Had attract mode but I didn't see freeplay, it said insert coins. Once you hit the 1 player button it goes to the original freeplay screen. Awh ha. Works great. Saving scores with freeplay and attract = SWEET. Thanks Matt!

Please please please do Excitebike next. BTW did I say PLEASE?

I vote for Excitebike to. There are TONS of leaderboards for that game and sucks to begin with it never had a HSS
 
I was just reading the Twin Galaxies special rules for Vs Super Mario Bros tournament settings:

Special Rules: Your scoring attempts ends when either you die for a 5th time, or you manage to Defeat Bowser and Save the Princess at the end of 8-4, thus beating the game. The Turtle Stair Hop trick is banned and use of it will result in IMMEDIATE disqualification of your score, accidental or not. [This also would include the use of a single enemy to get increasingly larger amounts of points by repeatedly jumping on it] Waiting to grab the Golden Axe, at the end of every Bowser level until the LAST POSSIBLE SECOND, causing the timer to revert to 999 is BANNED and use of it will result in IMMEDIATE disqualification! Use of the Wall-Jump tactic is NOT allowed! You MUST access the Underwater area of 8-4 by using the pipe across the lava pit. Doubling back and using the pipe before the pit to do so will equal Disqualification. Use of ANY Pipe to go somewhere different then the programmers intended is BANNED! Warping IS permitted!

I don't understand half of that... but the statement I put in bold is really puzzling to me. Who decides what was intended by the programmers?

I disagree with the turtle hop trick. I think you should be allowed to do the turtle hop trick 1x and benefit from the points from it. If you want to burn a man die and do it again, well that's all on you. So be it because they already stipulated 5 men or completion of the game as the rules, whichever comes first.

Oh well i think Triforce and the other guy knocked the scores out of the park. I can average about 100k per world so my high before save kit is about 780k. I also used more then 5 men but not much more.

Sounds like there is a glitch and you can go to other places then "down the tube" i have never seen this before or even heard of it before now.
