So I picked up a red tent a few weeks back. It was populated with Vs Tennis roms. When I turned it on, I got the game up on monitor one, but monitor two shows jumbled graphics and garbage. I can see a few moving sprites, and it appears that I can play the game, but it's like the background graphics are all messed up. Figuring it might be an eprom issue, I burned a set of Tetris roms, since Vs Tetris uses the same PPU that Vs Tennis does.

Vs Tetris looks fine when populated on the first side of the board, but it's acting the same way on the 2nd half of the board - jumbled background graphics, and a few moving sprites that I can see. Gameplay is fine, just can't really see what I'm doing.

I swapped the CPU's and PPU's and tried Vs Tetris on both sides of the board, and got the same results every time.

Aside from the socketed eproms, PPU, and CPU, what else could be causing my problem?

No acid damage.

I decided to re-seat chips once more. This time everything works. Must have been a flaky rom socket.

All better, thanks!
