I really do hate em! Sucks that some of the better games are on them! My Gradius isnt working. Pissed! Whatta great game too! Always tricky getting Sky Kid, Castlevania, RBI, and Dr Mario, to work and then this happens!

Anyone else dislike the Vs daughterboards?

They are a bit annoying, but you get used to them. The pins sure do wear out the sockets and they are hard to remove and install. That's why you find an empty PCB, install your daughtercard on it and leave it as is.

My Vs. Goonies is on it's own PCB and I've never removed it since installing it. The same went for Vs. RBI Baseball that went to Slackmoe. I received it on a PCB and never took it off.

The best thing to do with Vs. chip sets and daughtercards is to find empty PCBs, figure out which game combinations you want on each and avoid swapping them out which can wear out the sockets and possibly damage your chips or daughtercards that are obviously very fragile.

They are a pain, for sure.

I always try to make sure I have no bent pins, and to make sure I press them in all the way down. I probably press way too hard, but if there is the slightest bit of non-contact (does that even make sense?) you are screwed. I have found a lot of those sockets suck ass, too. It took me forever to get my RBI working when I first got it. Luckily for me the only daughter games I use are RBI and Dr Mario and I never take em out once they work right.

Makes total sense! That's what I do. I also had the WORST time getting RBI to work, BITD. Just sucks that Graidus STB!

This is the formula that I subscribe to. I was in the process of combining Sky Kid with Gradius. No such luck. Then I tried it on it's own. Nada.

Just wanted to see if others hated dealing with daughterboards too! I've owned them for 5 years now and still get agitated with them!

Just an update, I got Gradius to work again! The PPU was shot. I've never had it happen before. It's usually the CPU (2AO3 chip), that goes. Been great rockin this Konami classic again! Still hate daugtherboards tho!

is there a list of the Vs games that Do and Do not need the daughter boards?
[ stupid question I know]

Never a stupid question bro, only stupid answers.

If you go to my homie, blkdog7's, website, he has the games broken down by what PPU covers what game and what games are roms and which ones are daughterboards. Go check it out! Click on the Vs section. John has it hooked up, right!
