Recently purchased a converted vs Nintendo cabinet into a playchoice, and it is a plywood cabinet. The t-molding groove seems to measure centered. The issue that I am seeing is that the thickness of the wood is 11/16". It's NOT 5/8". If I purchase 5/8" t-molding, will it cover end to end? I'm not sure if I pound it into place maybe it will "spread' out more? Anyone had issues with this? Or do need to buy 11/16" t-molding? Seems like an unusual size for t-molding.

The chompingquarters link providing is the t-molding that was reproduced exactly from the old t-molding on your plywood cabinet. So it will fit exactly.

It's the dedicated Popeye cabinets that take the 5/8 t-molding, IIRC.

Thanks, I'll purchase it and see what happens. I'm not so much worried about it hanging over the edges as I am about it being not wide enough.

That's not right. It's the plywood vs. particle board that usually makes the distinction between center and offset molding. DK, DK Jr. and Popeye all came in both styles.

Tball5, why don't you post some pics? There are dedicated, grey, Vs cabs, and then there are DK, DK Jr., and Popeye cabs that were converted. There's also enough deviations out there that you need to make sure what you've got before you order.

Also, when you're dealing with Nintendo, it's usually better to deal in millimeters because in most cases the measurements were metric.

Dedicated (not to be confused with the kit) Popeyes are particle board and are thicker than the plywood cabs, I have all styles of the cabs for reference BTW.

He said he has a plywood cab, which is the centered tru-flat t-molding, I have yet to see a plywood cab with offset t-molding. If you have, then that's news to me.

There were dedicated Popeyes made in Japan with plywood (centered T-molding) and dedicated particle board Popeyes made in the US with offset. Same goes for the DKs and DK Jrs. and there was also a third type of cabinet seen at least in the later DK run but that type may have been used for DK Jrs and Popeyes as well. I think these has some type of laminate. It makes sense for the OP to sort that out before ordering.

I placed that order at chomping quarters, but I think I'm gonna cancel it. There's no way it'll fit. I'm gonna bring my calipers home to get a perfect reading, but I think it's 11/16". I think I'll have to buy 3/4" t-molding and shave it down after installation.

Just out of curiosity, is your cab the same as Tighe's? A U.S. made cab with plywood with a laminate on there?

I don't think this is laminate. Looks like paint. Here's a few pictures. What the hell is going on with these panels? I'm getting anywhere between .680/ .710. 5/8" won't fit. 3-4" is too big. FML. Gonna have to order 3/4 and cut it down.

That's definitely thicker than my plywood cabs see below:

But my Popeye particle board cab is closer, in measurement (.777in) to your plywood Vs. cab.

Anyhow,,,sorry for the confusion and let me know if you're stuck with the order, I will take the molding off your hands for your costs, as you can see mine needs some.

Well I asked chomping quarters to cancel it but I haven't gotten an email back. If he sends it my way, I can ship it to you! I'll keep you posted!
