So now that I have the final piece to the Balloon Fight puzzle (the roms) coming to me so that I can play BF on my dualsystem I have been thinking about the marquee for this game. Does anyone anywhere have one of these? I assume not as I don't think I've ever seen any comments made about one. The reason I ask is because I was going to spend sometime in Illustrator throwing together my own BF marquee. Then I'd send the file(s) off to someone like Billybob to have it reproduced for myself and anyone else who might be interested. But I don't want to do this if a week from now someone is going to come along asking me why I'm doing this when the marquee scanned somewhere I didn't know about. Anyways, I have collected as much online art from Vs. BF flyers, pics, etc as I can so that I can use original elements of the games art for my own marquee.

Thoughts?

There is a pic of the marquee out there somewhere, ask Jow? i remember seeing it somewhere..

I would love to see/find it. The only two I've found were 1)on Pete's PAR site and 2)on the VS. Balloon Fight flyer. Both are tiny photos and are quite blurry. If I could find something even around the 300+ pixel range that would really be all I needed to resize and "clean-up". Wouldn't really be that tough... it's just a matter of finding something that I/we can work with.

You're definitely gonna have to make it yourself.

I was actually about to sit down and make Vs. Balloon Fight marquee art for Jow.

I know it won't help much... but I DID find this...which at least proves there WAS a marquee...(and an orange dual player vs cab)

The image on the Pete's site was extracted from the arcade flyer.

The hardest part of recreating this is gonna be figuring out what's in the left cloud. And, what the second Balloon Fighter looks like:

Or, if worse comes to worse, we can use this:

I agree, John. It's obvious to us that it's the standard Ninty joystick instructions, but to what end, we don't know.

John, that painting is ridiculous... make it go away. :)

Yeah, I found quite a bit of this stuff over the past couple days. I believe the balloon guy on the right has the fish jumping at him. So at least we could steal some sort of pic of the balloon guy and the fish off of the flyer (or from some other source). I also found a pic of the instruction card (in Japanese) lastnight but it is really tiny. Thought that could be useful as well. And actually, I figured if nothing else I could consolidate some of the basic controls from the card and a general "write-up" of instructions from other sources (i.e. NES manual) for the cloud on the left.

Here's the link for the instruction card as I am at work and can't use photobucket.

Glad to see all the Balloon Fight love around here. One of the greatest games, ever.

Just wanted to mention maybe the obvious, that there are TWO different marquees for this game, according to what's on the flyer anyway. Planning on recreating them both? :D

im most definitely going to be painting my VS dual cab orange.. i love that look. i never really cared for the gray anyway..

I agree... when I finally get around to bondoing and repainting my cab I may have to go orange. But we would have to get the color just right so it doesn't turn out "hunters standing out in the woods" blaze orange.

Hi Guys,

I also have an upright dualsystem running Balloon Fight.. So I would be interested in the double glass marquee too. More than happy to chip in for any costs.

Thanks,

Mike

bump on the thread to see if anyone can help. Was anything ever designed on this? Still willing to contribute if there is an interest.
