VS. Balloon Fight Dip Switch

Hi,

Has anyone played around and figured out what the unknown dip switches are for VS. Balloon Fight? Everything I could find only disclosed the credit settings and not difficulty, extra life, # of lives, etc.

Would appreciate the info!

I have all the Vs. dips on my site here:

But, yeah, a lot of the dips are unknown or do nothing. I would say it is most likely the latter. Most games don't use all the dip switches and Vs. Balloon Fight has two sets of dips for ONE game which is not the complete norm. So, there are a lot of unused dips.

I saw that on your site, I have a feeling the Mame print-out is incomplete. I am going to screw around with each dip to see if I can identify any other possible config option. Will post here if I come up with anything.

I have already tried the other ones. Maybe I overlooked something. :)

Whats your high score on Vs Balloon Fight, Mike? I'm stuck at 567K.
 
Hey, thanks for asking Jow. Only had it in my upright dual system for a short time now. (Thanks to John and the rest of this board for the idea). I can barely break 200K with standard 3 guys, but that is about it. That's typically a two player co-op game. Haven't really focused on it one player, room for improvement for sure...

It bothers me that the extra guy comes at 10K and something tells me there should be a difficulty setting. Even SMB has the timer speed option, so for BF it would be nice to see harder color enemies or more lightning. If there is a chance the extra guy or difficulty setting could be altered I would be pretty happy.

I don't hold out much hope though, if John has already tried it. Will play with dips in Mame and see if I can come across anything.

I dont think there is a difficulty setting as far as enemies go, but as the stages go farther along, the lighting gets crazy. Ive gotten over 1M on the NES version, and as far as I can tell, its the same way. The enemies dont get any harder (there just is more of them), but the lighting gets crazy. Still, let us know if you find anything else out.
