VP9, Hyperpin, and my Dream Pin

Hey, do you mind sharing your set up? My buddy(who build's mame cabinets) and I are working together on one of these. And we are looking at different setups.

Here's a great video showing the physics differences between a real pin and Visual Pinball.

I'm by no means an "authentic snob" but I have played a real pin and then tried VP9 as well as Williams Classics on the Wii. Being a hardcore realist it boils down to it is impossible to recreate the "real world" and this is a great solution also to save space.
I hope the author of VP9 has changed his tune, when he threatened to pull the plug I stopped working on my project especially because I experienced several software glitches with VP9 and couldn't imagine having to deal with that on a regular basis. Two different machines with different operating systems pretty much solidified that. Luckily my project was only to the stage of having the PC and software end done. I will highly advise if you don;t have an SSD hard drive get one and use that instead of your rotational. Not only will your pin bootup fast as hell but your table load times will be ~1/3 load time. FWIW don't shy away from Kingston SSD's as they ar actually repackaged Intel drives ;)
Your setup looks nice congrats.

I'm quite surprised at how close the VP Funhouse table is to the real thing. I feel you on the setup, I've been losing lots of sleep trying to get multiple screens to work and at the end of the day if I had the space and funds for all my favorites I would definetly go for the real thing.

VP9 recentely announced they will go open source soon. This means the community at large, which is quite large, will probably start making some great advancements with the software.

Thanks for the videos! Really awesome. I'm in the process of building my tables with the active backglass and dmd's. I'm making progress but still have some issues to deal with.

I saw one of your vids a while back and I knew I needed to make one. I have an empty cabinet and have been messing around with VP9 / FP on my main computer. Will take a while to get it all setup for me, but thanks for sharing what you have done.

I'm with you! This is really awesome! I don't have a cab yet but I have managed to get a few tables setup with active backglass and the DMD to the backglass screen. Its back to the future but for some reason the dmd is smaller than the actual openings on the backglass. I have more reading to do! :)

Did you see where thet are using wii controllers hacked to control the tilt functions of the cab ?
I'll post some links whben I get home from work.

I have seen it, seems a little too messy for my tastes.

I redid the DMD area, and backglass. Took a photo. If anyone needs help building please feel free to ask.

so is that one or two monitors for your backglass/DMD? It looks EPIC!

He has been helping me with my build (more pictures coming soon) and has been a great help!

There are two monitors in the backbox (one for the backglass and one for the DMD). The backglass monitor in his setup is a 32" monitor, I believe, and the DMD is a 19" monitor (mine is 30" & 17" repectively).

Right click on the DMD and choose the option to show the frame (not title, just frame). It will draw a border around the DMD and you will be able to resize it. Once you do that and move it to where you want it, go back to the table, press the ESC key, return to Visual Pinball, and save the game. It will save the size and location of the DMD. You will then have to do this for ALL the Visual Pinball tables.

For Future Pinball, you will need to resize the table and backglass for each table and save them...

I'm in the process of building all of my tables and setting UVP and DMD positions.

How many tables do you guys have set up so far? I'll post a list of mine when I get home and maybe we can compare any issues we may have.

I only have a few set up as I am not going to go through the process until the build is done... :)

I here ya! :) I am sooooooooo far from having an actual cabinet to play on! I've been taking my 28" monitor off the wall and using my 19" for backglasss to play. I also took the 42" out of my bedroom....now that is sooooo sweet, it is so much easier to play on a big screen.

No doubt about that... My setup is 45"/30"/17" in a real cab... :D

Dude!!! That is awesome!!! I really cant believe how fun and real the whole thing feels. The guys who make the tables are doing a great job! How many tables do you have setup?

Right now, I have about 200 tables installed (but not all configured).

My plunger should be arriving today, so I am excited to get it installed...

Here is the old table:

It was a standard pin, but I got a smoking deal on a 45" 1080P LCD ($30!) so I upgraded to a wide body:
