I have a number of JAMMA boards that either don't boot or freeze shortly into the boot process. I'm using the following PSU.

http://www.amazon.com/Logisys-24-pin-Power-Supply-Silver/dp/B000F0DUT8

Outfoxies - freezes at boot screen or first attract mode screen

Mach Breakers - can play for a max minute or two before freezing

Locked 'N Loaded - does not start up period

Is it possible my Supergun cannot process the correct voltage?

after the 5v check i would clean those edge connectors with an eraser (just because they look clean doesn't mean they are).

I've noticed PC power supplies generally have lower +5, and the other part you have to watch out for is the power rails generally have much higher amperage than video game power supplies.. most guides I saw that involved PC PSUs added a fuse inline with the +5 just in case. fairly certain 3A.

you should get a Happ Power Pro on your supergun like I do on mine ;o

Measure the voltage at the PSU, then measure it at the board, if there is a difference then the wiring on the 5V and ground lines in the harness are too thin.

I used a multimeter to test the red and black lines coming from the PSU. Best I could get was 4.1 V. I take it this is the problem or should I test the edge connector as well?

Where did you measure it?

Measure at the PCB and at the PSU and see if there is a difference.

If you're only getting 4.1DCV at the board, the problem lies with either the power supply or anything in between the ps & board. Are there any connectors in between the 5V route? I would get an adjustable switcher ps for that set up, it'll be a lot easier to work with.

Most items that take 5V, 12V, ect... have a 10% grace each way, 10% above 5V, 10% below 5V. 10% below 5V = 4.5DCV, and you're not even getting that at the boards. Most boards I know of won't boot with volts being that low. The ps is the cheapest & easiest solution compared to ripping into boards. Do as BW recommended above, take a pencil eraser and lightly clean the edge connectors of the boards. Don't press too hard while doing it.

Can someone recommend a power supply for Superguns that handles +5 and -5 correctly? The Supergun has a 4 pin power input. The power cord is standard to these items right?
