Hey Guys,

Made a visit to Barcade in Brooklyn this past weekend with one of my friends that came down from Boston. On a side note, I must say - They have the perfect business model for keeping an Arcade going. Nice big bar with tons and tons of craft beers that are constantly changing all of the time, surrounded by loads of great classic games. Seems like in order to keep an arcade going now a days you need to really rely 99% of income on beer, and let arcade games just entertain everyone.

Anyways.. my friend and I decided to have a game-off. We went through every game in the place on 1 quarter per game, and switched off going first. 30 games were working that night..Berzerk and Joust were unfortunately not working, and the kicker was that DK was switched out with a DK Jr Board! Totally screwed me over on that one because its not even a competition between us on DK but I ended up losing in DK JR haha. Well the bad news was we ended up tied at 15 and didnt have a 31st game for a tie breaker.. but the good news was it was alot of fun. We think we're going to continue the event next time at Barcade in Jersey City..anyone ever go there? It looks like they have a great selection of games..even a Star Wars which i've yet to play in my life time.

Really wish I can say goodbye to the financial world and open up a similar bar/arcade. You're supposed to do what you like in life right?..isnt that what everyone always says!

You don't happen to be in your early 40s do you? :) I can't stop thinking like this... I'm chalking it up to a midlife but I dunno... maybe it is time to move on and try something different...

Oh yeah, the barcade sounds great! Next time the wifey and kiddos want to make a city trip I'll be all for it.

I'm pretty sure one of those guys came up this way for our Dig Dug in the past year or two. Was there a pretty nice looking DD there?

Nope i'm 27...been working in Finance for 5 years now and well yeah...Its not fun hah. All of their games are in very nice condition...played Robotron for the first time (a real robotron) that night too...sorry whats a DD? :)

Sorry, Dig Dug...

ahh yes they do actually...sits on the right side when you walk in.

Now you have me curious... maybe I'll see if there are any bus trips coming up soon and surprise the family. :)

:beerchug:

Barcade...

I love Barcade - all 3 of them. The guys that own it are very cool. A couple of them are on here...

Anyway I have been talking to them about maybe having an "old timers" night (42 doesn't seem "old" haha). So the classic gamers who where there when these games were new can hang & play without all the hipsters around.

I suggested some contests & prizes etc. hopefully they will put together something nice for us...

I'm pretty sure the DK has a DDK board in it, prolly just got flipped to Jr. Me and Ben's Jr high scores might still be up there :)

All the barcades are awesome.

Next time you're there just hit 1 and 2-player start simultaneously and it'll switch over to DK.

Me too! I was a regular at Barcade in Brooklyn for 7 years until just recently when I moved to Philly...now I have another Barcade to go to. :)

The Jersey City and Philadelphia locations are even better.. they serve food!

Barcade is seriously one of my favorite places.

Monday the 30th in Philly may work for me. Been wanting to get to Barcade.
