Hi;
I have a Vision Pro chassis MTG-2901CN and all it does is click, like a turn signal.
No neck glow and the HV is goes up to about 500v and then cycles as do the clicks.
I read a bad HOT would cause this but I cannot pin point the location, I'm used to working on old school WGs' etc.....
Any help is appreciated.
Thank you
Jeff

Most likely Q602, although I don't have a 2901 manual or chassis handy to check. It's Q602 on the 1901, though.

Check around the flyback for a large 3-legged transistor mounted to either a metal wall or a large heat sink. It'll probably have a smaller transistor near it...

The answer is............................................Q402
Thanks for playing and see you real soon the next time on....
Where's the H-O-T.
Goooood night everybody.

Monitor Issues

I just purchased a used pac-man over the weekend and it came with one of these monitors. It is doing the same clicking as you described above. There is a hot piece on the board, labeled W802. The original owner said the monitor worked for about a year, then just quit. Can you describe your repair at all? Attached is a picture of what I am seeing get very hot. It is labeled 180M on the top. I would love to have this be a simple fix as the monitor looks in very good condition.

The black box in your pic is a posistor which controls the degaussing coil.

I'm doing my repairs tonight and will have the results by tomorrow, seems to be a bad HOT and HVT.

In my case C417, a 33uf 250v 'lytic shorted and took out the HOT as well. Replaced both and it came back to life.

I have this same chassis, with the same symptoms.. looks like the Q402 transistor shorted from Base to emitter...

Anyone know where I can get a replacement for this part?

I tried searching for the datasheet, but not much is coming up!

Part reads:

J6808D
.....F47

The original owner said the monitor worked for about a year, then just quit.

That's funny because I just installed this monitor about a year ago as well... bad design eh?

I think I found the schematic, though its mislabeled as MTG-1901CN alot of the parts on the board seem to match up with the schematic

http://poweronix.com/Files/MTG-1901CN-1301CN-Schematic.pdf

Based on the above schematic, I think the part might be "2SC4769" - Very High-Definition Color Display Horizontal Deflection Output Applications¡¡¡¡¡¡ - Sanyo Semicon Device

can anyone verify this?

thanks!

The part seems to work, I now get the high pitched sound that you would normally hear from a functional monitor, but there is no neck glow, no picture, and i think the flyback is cooking because an odd smell is coming from the board.. no smoke though :D

Does the CRT get heater voltage from the flyback? or is something else bad on this board as well? (I am thinking about replacing the flyback)

Yes, the CRT heater voltage comes from the flyback.

Good luck finding a replacement flyback, though. I'm pretty sure they're not made any more. I have a WG 19K7302 (a clone of the Vision Pro) and I had a heck of a time finding a flyback myself.

Ah, it all makes sense then.. I also found a small bulge on the flyback, as if it cooked a little bit.

I was able to track down a replacement based on the schematic, Betson has this flyback for around $33

Here is the model for anyone else who is trying to track down the flyback:
MCK-20A036 FLYBACK TRANSFORMER1

Ill make another post when the flyback comes in on whether or not it was successful :)

thanks

Bringing this thread back to life since I was working on the same monitor with the same issue. Just FYI J6808D are available on Ebay while you can get em.
