Vision Pro 19" LCD in Neo Geo Gold Cabinet with mini review

Ok so the crt in my Neo Geo Gold cabinet was getting pretty much trashed. Board needed a full cap kit with a width coil and the screen has some damage to it. I did have the option of buying a NOS 19inch crt from another member here that is local to me for what he got them at auction for but decided to try on of the vision pro lcds instead. The problem is that with the neo geo gold the monitor mounts from the top and bottom and doesn't have a shelf. I did buy the retro fit mount happs makes for the screen and it was worthless for me. I will say the pictures were taken via my phone so the quality isn't that good.

First off the neo geo cabinet with the old monitor removed. The two strips of wood on the top and bottom are the only mounts for the monitor.

Wood frame I made for the new screen. I spray painted it even though I plan to put something in front of it.

Frame in neo geo cabinet. With this if I ever decide to put a crt back in I just need to remove a few screws that secure this to the old mounts and the cabinet is back to the way it was. Also this keeps the same angle as the original mounts and it sits on them. I will say it barley fit in, it is nice and tight.

Screen mounted to frame with super dodgeball running. The controls are sitting out so I could adjust the screen.

Screen mounted with glass back in front. Bomberman into running.

I'm going to grab a new piece of black poster board later and remake the paper bezel the system came with. Mine isn't in the best of shape and the hole for the crt is a tad bigger than the new lcd. With my mount I can always put spacers behind the lcd's brackets to move it further some but it is at a pretty good place right now.

Ok thoughts on the vison pro screen.

Overall it was heavier than I expected. Build quality is good though. On the back it has both a vga and cga connector. The screen also came with a cga extension cable to help you hook it up to an existing cabinet without moving the old cables. It also comes with a vga cable and standard power cable. In my case I used one of these hooked directly into the neo geo's power supply to the screens ac adapter.

Once you get the screen dialed in it looks good, a lot better than my old failing screen. The auto adjust does not work with the neo geo and the screen does take a lot of adjustment to get it dialed in right. Overall though I'm happy with it.
