Virtual Pinball

Even if it has been posted thank you for posting it again. All of his set-ups are a treat to look at.

That MAME set-up is a dream of mine I can't really put a price on what that would be worth to me. He's obviously got a lot of brains, money, and time to put together those things.

Yeah, the 50" Plasma can be had for about 750 at Costco. It's only 720p, but who cares.

The CP is what I'm thinking is the most expensive. I'm sure that was well into the 1000.00 mark.

As for the pin, I guess you just need one to gut and a 42" plasma.

You might be forgetting the computer needed to run both of those machines. I'm sure you can't run that software on an eMachines.

I'm just saying that the money/time/knowledge to put those together in such a classy manner is a lot more than I can imagine putting into a project :) Props to him.

that pinball mame thing is one of the greatest technical acheivements for MAME yet. I also saw another dude on youtube who had a mame pinball which was on a standard wood table. He was projecting the image onto via a mounted projector from above. pretty neat idea.

I've been playing with Future Pinball and Virtual Pinball at work. In my office area I have a 47" 1080p lcd and a system I built which is a QX9550 processor, 3 gig of ram and a 8800gtx 768 meg video card and to top it all off an SSD hard drive. I have all the bling turned on and it is just unfreakin believable. Sooooo much fun. I brought the system home and showed my wife on our 52" Sony Bravia and she said, "I'm just not into the whole virtual pinball." Yeah ..... I was sad about that. BTW I work at Intel ... it's awesome having what ever hardware I want at my finger tips! I truly love my job ;)

Anyway anyone reading this - the pinball software really accels on Nvidia cards. Virtual pinball hates ATI ..... all sorts of quirks and such. I also HIGHLY recommend using an SSD hard drive so the tables load quickly!

You are a dirty lying whore

I grew up in Folsom bro. Intel is huge there (you know that). In all seriousness, I have a ton of friends who work for Intel. They all love their "job".

LMAO!!! Yes Jow - I get the jist.

And let me honest here. I ALWAYS say, "I am grossly over paid for what I don't do."

Personally I'd have tilted the tv acting as the playfield slightly, maybe at the average 6 degree incline just to make the view a little better, and drop glass over top of it, but that's a damned nice pseudopin he's got there.

Thanks guys for all the input and replies, I have been working on this for 2 years now, getting the house the way i want it, next is the kitchen and dinning area ( much to my wifes delite, hehe )

The Virtual Pinball is tilted 8 degree's, tho its mainly the slope of the actual pin cab. I had a choice to make with the cab when i built it, either small bezel or a deeper display. I choose small bezel.

The 50 inch Plasma is 1080P, tho to run things in 3D, you have to run it at 720P to get 120 htz for the Nvidia card to take effect. I have 2 SLI'd 295's in the PC itself, with a 8 TB HD system.

Control Panel was built from mameroom.com Scott there is a great resource for information, and his product is top notch. It cost me 2,000 for it. When I bought it, I wanted everything, and everything to be done right, and you only get one chance to build it.

If any of you need any other info, please feel free to PM me, or on youtube, and I will be glad to help you =)

EQDruid,

Wow! Your virtual pinball machine is one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time.
If you don't mind me asking, what was the total cost to produce yours?

Thanks,

Jim

Total cost, Minus mistakes, around 3k. I did have a few, Opps while making it.... hehe

It was a fun project. Even thinking of making another and giving that one away to a youth center.
