Virtual Pinball Progress

:)

Centrino, Centrino Duo, Core, Core 2, Core vPro, who the hell cares :p

Bill knows best!
Windows 3.1, Windows 3.11, Windows 95, Windows 95B (this incorporated a fix I found for MS btw), Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 7
And don't get me started on the Windows NT or server versions heh heh Touche !!!!!

Ok I call a truce ;)

FP is a pain in the ass!
need to do the following:
- Press Scoll Lock. this puts it into the "resize" mode. here there are 4 options. Resize PF, Move PF, resize Backglass, Move backglass.
- Using PgUp/PgDn you choose the option you want
- Using the numeric pad, resize/move the selected feature (4 & 6 is horizontal, 2 & 8 are vertical).
- Repeat...
- Save

That's pretty much it...

Move, resize, save the DMD. VP does a much better job...

ok...that's what i thought on VP, but i didn't wanna sound like a know-it-all douche since i haven't actually done it myself. i'm pretty sure the average joe could get VP up and running to some degree.

as for FP, i probably heard about moving/sizing issues before but just don't recall any specifics....correct me if i'm wrong but that sounds more like "pain in the ass, time consuming mess" than "technical difficulties out the wazoo & you'd have to be a computer whiz to even attempt it." that right? or no? i'm actually asking for my own benefit as i (someday.....hopefully) plan to build my own virtual pin somewhere down the road. probably be at least a year if not 18 months before i can tackle it though....trying to build up my real pin collection a bit first.

So it's basically getting to know the ins and outs of a new to me operating system... No big deal ( I hope)
I currently dont own any pins and am SERIOUSLY considering building one of these as I LOVE to play but just cant swing the hefty price associated with buying real cabs.
I really appreciate all the hard work you guys put into these projects and the knowledge that is so freely given away!
Its making the decision ALOT easier for me!

I'm with you on this! I keep taking my 42" LCD off of my bedroom wall and rigging up a makeshift setup. My girlfriend sees me walking by to go downstairs with the TV and just rolls her eyes :)

I also appreciate the guys doing all of the dirty work reformatting all of these tables! It so awesome of them to post them all for everybody to use.

Sure.

It is defnitely more work to get all three working... not hard, but more work.

Here is what needs to be done...

For Future Pinball each game needs to be loaded and the playfield and backglass need to be re-sized and re-positioned.

For Visual Pinball each game needs to be loaded and the DMD needs to be re-sized and re-positioned.

If you change the order of the monitors, or change resolutions, or boot without one of the monitors, you run the risk of having to do this again. You can, however, backup the part of the registry that controls this and recover it, but the risk is there.

I currenly have 212 tables but I have only configured about 10 of them as I dont want to send the time to configure them all until I am done. Also, I will be adding a bunch more tables too...

Hope that makes sense...

Are most of your tables VP or FP? I currently have about 70 VP tables and 0 FP! :) I guess I need to start on some FP's.

there are a lot of solid FP tables......that said, i prefer "newer" DMD tables and VP suits my needs just fine.

i plan to have both when i finally get around to building my virtual pinball cab.

Having worked as a computer consultant for many years, having sold computers to "the average joe", I know that no matter how easy it is, they would f*ck it up... making some for people I know can do it, I am okay with, but not for the average joe...

My pleasure. When you get around to building yours, feel free to reach out and ask any questions you have...

Yup. you have the bug... :)

I also appreciate the guys doing all of the dirty work reformatting all of these tables! It so awesome of them to post them all for everybody to use.

Unfortunately, its not that easy. If I give you my settings, they will probably not work unless you have exactly the same setup as mine (resolutions, sizes, locations, etc)...

Most are VP. I currently have about 220 loaded, but many more that can go on there...

I think yours and EQDruid's machines are amazing. Up in Calgary, I can't find a pin for less than $1000 but I can get LCD TV's for free and repair them for next to nothing so as soon as I fix my Hitachi plasma I will absolutely by trying to do something like this. My kids are going to love it.

Keep up the great work guys.

Thanks.

You from Calgary?!? I moved from Calgary to Seattle about 6 1/2 years ago... Still have family there and tend to make it back once a year. I will have to look you up next time I am in town...

How did you enjoy the snow last week? :D

Since you guys are getting into the nuts and bolts of VP, I'd like to ask for guidance in something with mine.
I want to adjust the vbs scripts so hitting the letter "o" (which I have tested and is code 24) causes the game to bring up the Quit menu (the one that has resume or quit to editor). I read online for hints and found a really good description here
http://www.vpforums.org/index.php?showtopic=5241&pid=36940&mode=threaded&show=&st=0

In his case, he defines how to make the letter "p" do the same thing (code 25) so I followed his decription but it does not work.
I did find the following entries in wpc.vbs

Case RightTiltKey vpmNudge.DoNudge 285,2
Case CenterTiltKey vpmNudge.DoNudge 0,2
Case Else vpmKeyDown = False

and as he mentioned I did add Case 24 (since I am going for o not p) Quitplayer 2 in there and saved it. I then played a Williams table (because from what I gather wpc.vbs is for Williams tables) but when I hit the letter o nothing happened.

I then put exactly what he mentions in and loaded the table and hit p but still nothing happened.

A friend of mine who knows Visual Basic better than me says the script needs to define Quitplayer 2 somewhere before this will work. I can't find any documentation on how to do that.

Any of you VP guys done any adjustments like this? Got recommendations?

Don't use a Plasma... Its not ment to be laid on its back side. And the heat would kill everything inside your cab.

Get a LCD.
