I picked a Virtua Fighter 2 arcade about 2 years ago and when I picked it up it was is great working condition. Last summer the screen started to have issues. At first, there was about a 1" horizontal bar at the top of the screen where the image seemed like it had folded over itself. Then a few weeks later I lost most of the image and now it's a single bar less than 1/4" inch thick. The game itself seems to be functioning because I can hear the sounds and get into a match and the joysticks work.

The game was kept in my basement, which until I installed a permanent dehumidifier was very damp. I don't know if possibly some of the connections to the screen got corroded from the damp environment or if the screen simply went bad.

If the screen is bad, is it difficult to replace and where can you get replacements? I've included some pictures of the screen to help diagnose.

Thanks,
-Sean

My VF 2 did the same thing. Another member here (Modessitt) suggested the following:

"the vertical problem is a simple one.

Replace C433 ( 10uf 50v ) and R433 ( 2.2K 1/4w ) , if still not deflection replace R436 ( 15K 1/4w ) "

As I recall, one of the resistors was quite charred so I could not make out the value to replace with but Modessitt had the info.

I am assuming you have an MS8-26SU monitor chassis. You should verify to be sure this applies.

The tube is fine. This is an issue on the monitor chassis. There are some members here that do repairs on monitor chassis as well.

Thanks for the info, glad it doesn't sound like there is anything wrong with the monitor. I haven't taken the back off in a while, can I assume that C433 and R433 are labeled on the monitor chassis?

If the chassis is an MS8-26SU then that is true. You need to verify what chassis is installed. I think it should be an MS8-26SU as all of the VF2 machines I have encountered had that same chassis model installed. Also, when removing the chassis, pay attention the connectors that attach to the chassis. Best to take some pictures before removing connectors and/or draw a diagram.
