performed some maintenance on a Virtua Cop tonight, and noticed that I have sound coming out all the speakers except the top left one. there's amp hiss coming out of it, so I know the speakers are good (even swapped speakers with the right side for fun) and I have left/right audio coming out the lower speakers (subs?)

I'm not entirely sure why I'm getting left/right audio out the one set of speakers and only right channel out the top, and the amps are working on all of them.

any takers? :)

for what it's worth, it's a deluxe model with the pedestal.

first id try by inspecting the pins inside the connector feeding the speakers. check the spacing of the pins. weak ones will be more open than the others and wont/cant grip the PCB as tight. wires oxidized/corroded? resistance goes up with that problem. pins look nice and clean? i might even try real careful like a wiggle test of the connector. i dont like doing that cause it changes the torque of the pins gripping the PCB and can mess with the voltage going to and the ground coming from the PCB. i think you can fry something but it hasnt happened to me yet. the wiggle test worked for me on a PAC MAN which had a loud hum. by pressing the wire harness towards the cabinet (1/16th of an inch or less) the hum went away ! replaced some pins and screwed the harness to the cab near the connector.

then id replace the capacitor in the audio circuit. had a couple audio problems go away after installing new cap.

speaker problems? install known good speaker to make sure hissing speaker isnt blown or otherwise not hooked up correctly.

If the game has its own separate amp board then make sure the input connections on the amp board aren't cracked. They may need resoldering. This happened on my old Sega Turbo Out Run.
