Is it just a simple rom swap to play the different games that run off the MODEL 2A CRX hardware?

I was looking at this web-page and saw that this hardware has a dedicated rom board with socketed chips:

I'm thinking of having some chips burned to play Dead or Alive, or Zero Gunner.

I'm sure that there is some sort of security there some where. Sega wouldnt make those things to be simple ROM swaps.

I've never tried but I would be really surprised if there wasnt some level of security there.

they had some inadvertently clever way of doing that... some boardsets use different boards to run the games. I remember someone on here tried swapping like a Virtua Cop and a Daytona USA, and one of the games wouldn't work cause one of the boards in the stack was non-working or missing. I can't remember exact details though.

I wanna say it was like a memory backup, one of the games uses it, and you wouldn't totally expect it. lol
