Thought I'd share some product info and successful install tips. This is the foam tape strip that goes between the monitor shield and the back of the control panel to keep out debris and spilled beverages, etc.
I searched the forums and found some useful links, but I ended up ordering just the right item from amazon. It's AP Products 018-181417 1/8" thick x 1/4" wide Vinyl Foam Tape. You get 50 feet for about 5 dollars. My Space Duel manual was very specific about the type of tape and the dimensions, so that was my guide. (I'm sure you could go wider on the tape with a different product and it would probably work just as well.)
My son and I opened up Space Duel and Asteroids Deluxe earlier today and saw that the existing tape strips were mostly worn out, and on SD the tape hadn't had the white backing paper peeled off, so the seal wasn't very good. The new strip on AD actually made a big difference b/c the control panel is much more secure. Before, I could move it back and forth on the right side, where the tape had worn off.
We removed the old tape and residue with a combination of peeling and a moist sponge with some hand soap. Wiped it off with a cloth and we were all set to install the new tape.
Now I have about 46 feet of tape left. Guess I'll have to buy some more games!!
