Vintage Vault Arcade and Gameroom - New Photoset

Epic is a good word to describe this.

Even my wife, when she saw the photos, said "Holy shit! That's in someone's HOUSE?!? We need one of THOSE!"

Holy shit Jeremy, you never told me you had one of my SMB bezels printed up. Or did you? What I always wonder is how did you decide WHERE each game was gonna go. Was it planned, or did you just put them in there where they fit?

Amazing. Simply Amazing.

Clean & all easy to play! Wish I had more room, gonna be a couple years till I can work on mine in the basement. I would love for all my games to finally be all together..

Dearest TheBasement,

I have a true story for you. Three-ish years ago I started this hobby and started filling my garage up with beat up games. It was a terrible annoyance to my wife. One night while browsing KLOV I came across some pics of your arcade and I called my wife over. I showed her your arcade. After a few moments of silence, she said "We need to do this".

When we began house hunting, we looked at a house I really liked and she said "Well I don't like it... there's no room for an arcade". I had completely forgotten about what she said after seeing your arcade. It really stuck with her.

We purchased a modest home with a full basement. You are the reason I now have a basement arcade.

Mine is nowhere near the level of yours... but here is the room you inadvertently helped to create.

From the bottom of my nerd heart, thank you.

I knew that you had designed this bezel, but I didn't have it printed. I don't remember which member here sold me a printed copy they had but never used. I don't recall if I had messaged you about it or not, it was a few years back. VS Super Mario definitely needed its own bezel, and members often comment on your bezel and how nice it looks. Keith Apicary/Nathan Barnett even asked me about it at one point so I pointed him to your old thread.

For the most part, game lineups were kind of planned in the current layout. Starting from the bar to the entrance, I have 4 Atari classic games together because of similar shape with Tempest on the end, because Tempest has some nice artwork. Plus the slant on the Tempest cab makes it easier to see into the gameroom without it appearing to be a wall. Then from the entrance along the first wall is Q*bert and all my Nintendo cabs. Similar designs, with odd shaped cabinets first then all the same Nintendo cabs next. Along the next wall which expands the length of the game, are Midway cabs, then a Paperboy next to the tall cabs, then a trifecta of Williams cabs, then mulitplayer Rampage and Simpsons, then Golden Tee. The end of the row and then the far wall is what I call driver row, with 9 driving games. I have 3 games in a middle row by the island bar. I purposely gave Tron the spot of honor, its cool and in nice shape. Then Narc. It's Williams but is an odd shape and design. Then a Digdug cocktail with its legs raised as high as it would go. The Digdug cocktail overlooks the sitting area with a couch, TV, satellite and home game consoles.

Keep in mind, that I have bought and sold a decent amount of games since I built the gameroom so the design of the gameroom had nothing to do with what I owned. When the gameroom was built, the only driver I had was Outrun and Star Wars was still sitting in Phet's basement arcade.

The pictures weren't originally posted, but since I referenced them here are the other parts of the gameroom. Atari row, middle row by island bar, and the sitting/tv area.

I appreciate the comments. I love the design of your basement arcade. The brick wall and wood floor has a certain charm and atmosphere to it that I really like and I'm sure others do as well. Nice job on the bar BTW. Another collector I know has either exposed brick or stone in her basement and I always admired it. My basement was gray concrete, so obviously it got drywalled.

I wouldn't consider any level of an arcade better than another one. I'm sure for most of us, as a kid we all wanted to own our own arcade. Now we all do, whether its a basement, garage, or single room. That's what is great about this hobby, and I will never tire of looking at other people creations and dreams come true.

I totally agree with all the other guys that say this is they're favorite home arcade on klov. The only thing missing is black light carpet, and even then, the carpet you do have looks great with the woodwork of the bar and the pool table. I fall into the group that was initially inspired by pics of your arcade - I will never forget the first time I saw pics of it a few years ago and was totally floored by the sheer awesomeness that is The Vintage Vault. :D One question - do you have any free space? I see you're looking for some pins, but will something have to go to make room?

Well, I did have to make a concession with the wife on the carpet. She liked the Freesia, which turned out real nice. It is a low shag and the games slide around on it very well. I mentioned blacklight at the time and basically my wife said "I'm not a fan". I do have a few black lights in there though.

As far as space, well I'm almost out. What I have now are mainly keepers. I could strategically get in 2 more games if I needed to. My wife and I had talked about expanding the family room upstairs in several years time (building an addition). I told her if that happens then the basement below is being expanded with the upstairs and I will join it with the existing gameroom.
