Vintage Vault Arcade and Gameroom ~ Game Day (9/25/11)

For those that know me or my posts, I do frequent gamedays down in the Vault. I love looking at the photosets that others post, so I always try to do the same. Altogether we had a crowd of about 40 people. The younger girls emptied two thirds of my candy crane machine in 2 hours and I finally had to shut it off. Nothing broke down and my new Tron made its first public appearance. Baby Pacman surprisingly gots tons of play (possibly because I just fixed the unlit lamps from bad transistors), and the touchscreens always had someone on them. Simpsons and Road Burners were also the top *free* earners of the day. If you are wondering about the feathers in the young girls hair, apparently weaving them into the hair is some new fad in the area. Enjoy the pictures!

You are living my dream! :) You and your collection are one of the "gold standards" of this site in my opinion! Thanks for sharing!
Matt

First time I've seen your game room and must say it looks freaking fantastic!!!
I'll bet it's very rewarding seeing people make use of all the hard work that goes into a collection like that and even more so seeing kids so excited about playing the classics. Our 2 1/2 year old daughter shows lots of interest in the few cabs we have already(she's always climbing on the stool, hitting start on the freeplay Ms Pac and moving the stick). A few more weeks and she'll be a pro :p

Love the "Nintendo Row" btw :)

They always ask me what my favorite game is, and I tell them Star Wars. Then I get this funny look, because there a much *cooler* games in the arcade to them. However, I did find one girl playing the Star Wars game for a good 15~20 minutes during gameday.

Wow! VERY impressive collection! The best arcade collection I've ever seen, and it's even cooler than people are enjoying it.

I actually had my friends and his two kids over to check out my collection last night. They played my PC10 and all the kiosks as well as some SNES/N64 on my T.V. I was a little nervous that the younger one (he's 9) would break something, but everything went unharmed.

Awesome!! Where'd you get that light up change sign from? Who's the manufacturer?

I'm not sure as to the manufacturer, and its heavy as heck (solid metal body) and reinforced on that ledge so i can't get it down easily to check. However, my collecting friend got 2 of them from a warehouse raid NIB. He kept the one that said TOKENS, and gave me the CHANGE one. In the box was mounting hardware that I think mounted directly to a change machine.

Is the sign a translite, or is it actual screen printed plexiglass?

It is screen printed plexi or glass. I can't tell which with it mounted up in the box. Definitely not a translite behind another piece of plexi. Also, since it was made to mount to a change machine or similar and not stand alone, it did not come with a cord. It was easy though to wire a simple AC cord to it to plug it in.

So who are all the people at your game nights? This mostly family and friends or do you have neighbor kids, etc?

Absolutely awesome!! Great pics and it looks like everyone had a great time. That feather thing in sweeping the country. I'm glad I don't have girls, 'cause I heard they cost like $45 to get put in!!

Cool Pepsi machine you got there. Do you have any other pictures of it on your site?

Since you asked, here are some other pictures from gameday which show the pepsi machine. Offhand I don't know if I have anymore on the website.

Also, another picture of one of the girls with the feathers, and them showing off their "haul" from my candy crane machine. Gotta love kids!

I'm curious, how do you have your games set up to play? Quarters? Tokens? Freeplay? And how does that work when you have a bunch of people over like that?
