Vintage Vault Arcade and Gameroom ~ Game Day (2/12/11)

For those that might not know I am a childrens pastor. I decided to invite the kids out to my house for a Saturday gameday on 2/12/11. This was the first time that I had this group out to my house. We ended up having a record attendance for a gameday with 40 people showing up. Nothing broke, nothing was abused, and everyone was great. Altogether it was a lot of good fun.

An interesting story was that one of the boys was bragging about how good he was on Donkey Kong. So I switched the game to DKII and told him to give it a try. Him and another boy were able to get to the 3rd level.

And now, on to the pics.

Wow, must have seemed pretty outrageous to most of them, like one of Billy Madison's birthday parties. Looks like they had a great time..how could you not..!?

Dude, I love your game room so much. How awesome that you try to bring a positive environment to these kids. Rock on.

Very cool. Those kids will remember you and your awesomeness for the rest of their lives!

Put a smile on my face. Way to go. Glad to hear they were respectful and didn't damage anything. Nice to hear good stories about today's youth!

Thats a better turn out then most of us would be able to pull off. Where were all the parents at? Hope they didn't just drop the kiddies off to you.

There were 9 adults and 31 kids. The adults were invited but it wasn't necessary that they come. We met in the church parking lot. I used the very oversized (almost bus-like) church van to drive most of the kids out. Out of family gatherings and several other types of gamedays, this was by far the largest one yet.

That's awesome that you do that for them. I'm sure you've created some great memories for more than a few, just as many of us have great memories of these games from our youth.

40 new hobby addicts were created. :D
