Hi, all.

I just bought a vintage 1980 Coke machine. It still gets the soda very, awesomely cold. i have this in my living room. The question I had is: Do I leave it on all the time, or only when I have company? I wasn't sure how it would affect my electric bill to leave it on all the time, but I also didn't know which way would take less of a toll on the machine. Any experience or advice would be welcome. Thanks.

Dave

Coke machine

It will cost $10-$15 a month. Let it run all the time. They are more prone to leaking when they are sitting without the compresser cycling once in a while.

Depending on the brand and model of the machine, depends on what parts are available. Some of the Narco stuff is hard to find, but most Vendo or Cavailer parts are readily available. There are some generic items like cooling fans, motors, and compressor parts.

I have a '76 model Vendo Cavalier that I keep in my ManCave. I keep it stocked with cans of soft drinks in 4 slots and 2 slots of beer. The machine runs all the time. I did put in a pipe that leads from the back to the machine though the wall to the outside as I get quite a bit of condensate. But then again, I live in South East Texas where the humidity is usually above 80%. I haven't had problems with it for at least 3 years now. What I like is that it keeps the soft drinks from taking up fridgerator space and I have it vending at $.25 so when the machine is out.. I empty the change box and refill the machine with it.

I say keep it on but be aware of condenstate if your in the house with it.

Vendo... I seems I was told it was a cavalier model... hmm....

I'm probably mistaken.. but I've included a photo of it.

Coke machine

Yep thats a Vendo 125, I have the exact same one. I got the commercial cord to press for free cans of pop with it. Press the button, then the selection.

Great machine, keeps the pop coooold. It does get a little condensation in the garage but not much.
