While visiting my mom for Easter today w/ my brothers, she pulled out a big box of old photos and we started going through them. Among the pictures were these Polaroid photos of the Christmas morning when we got the Atari VCS. I think this was Christmas 1979:

A year or two later we got a used pinball machine for Christmas; my younger brother now owns it. He's the little guy in the stylin' red outfit -- that's me playing the game.

Unreal. A pin as a kid. I couldn't imagine.

Yeah, we were blown away by it! I think my dad knew somebody who was an op and got some sort of deal on it. That pinball game came out in 1973, so I'm guessing it was considered a relic compared to the solid state machines of the day.

Nice decoys, I guess your Dad was a duck hunter. Great pictures, I still have my "Heavy Sixer" that I bought with my paper route money.

Man that's awesome to get a pinball machine as a Christmas gift at that age (or any age really :D). When I was 13, I was somehow able to get my parents to buy me a WWF Superstars machine (for pretty cheap of course).

Yes, we grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland -- pretty much one of the goose/duck hunting capitals of the world. My dad has done wildlife illustration as a side business for about 35 years. So, we grew up hunting and also immersed in the world of decoy shows, knowing the old-time decoy carvers, etc. I look at these pics now and it does look funny, but at the time it just seemed normal.

Great pics! Brings back those awesome memories of my own!!! We got our VCS right before Christmas break, my mom let us skip the last day of school before vacation and we sat in front of the TV for (it seemed) like days. Played Asteroids, Missile Command, Combat and Circus Atari until we were numb!

Thanks for sharing!!!!

Awesome pics thanks for sharing! i started a similar thread at nintendoage and alot of guys posted pics of when they got their nintendos. I love old photos like these.

WOW, i can't believe that no one else has any more pictures. I will have to see what i can dig out. Might not be as old as those but mine are still from the days of classic gaming.

I bet there could be a whole thread dedicated to members sharing vintage gaming photos from their youth.
