I thought I'd start a separate thread to show everyone who might not have read the original thread featuring such a cool idea.

Cadillacman started this idea so he deserves all the credit.

But let's see how everyone else takes this idea and runs with it. Show us your new digital arcade sign. Here are two videos to get this discussion rolling.

Great job guys. I'll be working on mine today!

I should do that for my office. I have a 7" digital frame gathering dust. It plays videos too, I should put some of those up.

That is an awesome idea... when I saw Cadillac's video I definitely marked that as a "must do"...

Shar's idea of hanging it vertically and run flyers through it is also a kickass idea! Like 5 flyers... then an arcade logo... 5 more flyers... then the gameroom sign... etc. Nice!

I'd like to find one that is (A) big... 10" or bigger and (B) has a switch to turn it on rather than a momentary button... I want to wire this to my rope light circuit so it will turn on each time I turn on the lights...it would kill the deal if I had to manually push a power button each time.

Good point about the switch. I was gonna wire this into one of the 20amp circuits that I turn on to power up my machines. If not, I'll just hack it.

The 10" ones are pricey. That 8" for $60 seems to the biggest for the money.

They're often cheaper than that for bigger screens (cheaper as in size : price ratio). Buy.Com had a 19" widescreen recently for like $109 or something.

Now we are just getting silly. I am not hanging a computer on my wall. The idea of nice clean picture frame is very appealing. :p

If it was done right it wouldn't be silly at all...
in fact if you recessed the screen into the wall... you could even frame it :D

The only thing that concerns me with these photo frames is their small size, they (to me) would just appear too underwhelming especially in such a badass arcade...

I picked up a couple of these on clearance at Target for $20ea...could be cool to use in a game room, I didn't think of it until now!

Note that they are pretty dim, you definitely need a dark room but other than that they seem to work pretty good for what they are, I hooked an NES up to one and played a few games of RC Pro Am through it.

They also make for a good marquee/mini marquee.

Especially with Neo Geo!

mine plays video too.. its a smartparts 15 incher iirc..... mine was free :D my old boss gave it to be for christmas...

would be neat to make some short video cuts of game caracters etc and mix it in with everything..

just like i said man those frames are everywhere and what a neat cheap way to make signage.. then when your board with it just change it up!

check your local craigs.. im willing to bet most of you guys can get em cheaper locally either used or unwanted new unused...
