VidiotArcade.com arcade video... aka BLINDED BY NEON!
Spent the long weekend hanging and wiring all the neon I've gotten from Gu. It took a little bit of time to find good places for everything but I *think* I got it nailed down now. Casey(cwales) was over on Saturday and he agreed that none of it detracts from the game play of any game and in the case of the pinballs it actually helps light up the play fields a bit.
The Enterprise helps light up our stairs. The Tron is above our little Franken-Tron and even though it's bright... you barely notice it when you are playing. And the Battlezone... the Battlezone had to be put back behind the Battlezone game since it is a bit like staring into the sun. I first had this one in the stair well but it was blinding. Actually the wifey was upstairs when I first lit it up there and she instantly was like "WTF is that?".
With it up behind the game it's not too bad. I may try to put a piece of smoked Plexiglas in front of it to tone it down but it really isn't too bad(in fact it's grown on me).
I have all the neon and mood lighting on the light switch at the top of the stairs except the Tron marquee, Battlezone, and green Atari... those are on a separate switch since they are the brightest and I *thought* I may want to switch them off when I am playing the games.
I have to admit something... Gu was sooo happy that I helped him find a market here for his neon that he's been sending me free... yes... FREE signs. There is no way I would have bought all three of the $300 neons but he knew I liked them so he sent them... no questions asked and he denied me 10x over when I offered to pay.
I want to give a public thank you to Mr. Gu!
Your talent and generosity is much appreciated my friend!
BTW, all the neon was on for 8-10 hours on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday and none of them had issues.
