Vidiot for a Day! August 4th, 2012. (near Binghamton, NY)

(Figured I'd post this in the general section for all to see since people from PA, NJ, and MA have come in the past so it's really not a "restricted NY" sub-forum kind of thing. That and it doesn't seem like most people frequent those sub-forums very much?)

August 2012 is coming up pretty fast here so the wifey and I decided on this year's date...
Saturday, August 4th from ~2pm to ~9pm(or 10pm or 11pm or...).

A few things have changed down in the basement since last year with the addition of two more pins and a whole lot of neon!

Some video games have come, and some have gone so it'll be the same... but different.

Please let me know either here or via PM if you are going to be attending. The wife's already asked about the quantity of food and other stuff we need and I told her you never can tell who's going to show up... but I'd try to get an idea for her. :)

Not sure if people want to try the swap meet again this year since it didn't seem to go over too well last year(again). Which is odd to me since I know I love seeing what kind of junk people have! I'll definitely have a tent and tables setup again this year for that purpose if people want to try again.

And we can easily fit ~10 or so games inside the house if you want to bring anything to sell or trade or just show off!

Food will be about the same with "cookout" being the theme. And yep, that means SPIEDIES!

Here's a current list of games down in the basement...

1. Donkey Kong/DKII
2. Donkey Kong Jr.
3. Donkey Kong III
4. Popeye
5. Mario Bros.
6. Punch-Out!
7. Mr. Do!
8. Circus Charlie
9. Tempest cabaret
10. Red Baron
11. Joust
12. Battlezone w/open face kit
13. Centipede
14. Moon Patrol
15. Gyruss (which switches to Time Pilot)
16. Track and Field
17. PlayChoice-10 w/10 games
18. Tron cabaret (in a Pac-Man style cabaret)
19. Omega Race cabaret
20. MultiPac (24-in-1 from Clay Cowgill) or Jr. Pac-Man
21. Stargate
22. Galaga
23. Sega Hang-On cabaret
24. Crazy Climber
25. Wizard of Wor
26. Root Beer Tapper
27. Gorf cabaret
28. Robotron
29. Super Mario Bros Pinball
30. Batman Forever Pinball
31. X-Files Pinball
32. Freddy: Nightmare on Elm St. Pinball
33. Mary Shelley's Frankenstein Pinball
34. Maverick Pinball

For those that haven't been here before, Binghamton is very easy to get to with I81, I88, and I86(old Rt17) running straight through it. Our place is about an hour south of Syracuse, 2 hours south-west of Albany, 2-1/2 hours south-east of Rochester, and an hour north of Scranton, PA. (Oh yeah, and it's 11-1/2 hours north-east of Kentucky!!!)

And finally, here is this year's t-shirt...

As you can see, we're finally using multiple colors and also adding a small graphic on the left sleeve. I toyed with the idea of changing everything around but I heard it from the family so the basic design is staying the same as previous years.

I'm going to be putting the t-shirt order in ~June 22 so if you know you want one let me know your size. It's looking like $10 for up to a XL and $12 for XXL.

T-shirt list as of 06/25/12:
The Vidiots - XXL, XL, S, YXL
SRW - XL, XL
Tim - M, L
Broodwich - XL
Kawydud - XXL
melchman - L
nuckinfuts68 - XL, XL
Mr. Do - L
cwales - XXL

Hope to see you August 4th, :beerchug:
Jeff

p.s. If you don't know what the heck all this babbling is about, here's the thread from the previous two year's parties...

I am HAULING games again this year. If you are selling a game to a Vidiot for a Day, I can get it from North NJ to The August 4th picnic.

I have a LeMans for Casey. That leaves 3-5 open slots.

Guidelines:
* Game must be in Denville, NJ 07834 on August 3rd
* must agree to share the fuel cost (~$25 per game)
* must be assembled. That means: monitor bolted in, coin door locked, control panel clamped, marquee and bezel screwed in. I will be turning the games so nothing should be loose.

If you are buying a game from a Vidiot for a Day:

* Game must be picked up in Denville, NJ 07834 on August 5th
* must agree to share the fuel cost (~$25 per game)
* Seller, the game must be assembled. That means: monitor bolted in, coin door locked, control panel clamped, marquee and bezel screwed in. I will be turning the games so nothing should be loose.

Try to pre-arrange payment or use PayPal, I charge 5% to handle cash or credit. (Yes, I can handle Credit Cards if Cellular service or WiFi permits)

Phet's wife I believe, and notrecain's too.

It was NotreCaine I was thinking of... I think. ;)

(Unless Phet was planning a trip here and I didn't know? Is that why that huge box of condoms and blow up dolls showed up via UPS last year? I just assumed it was for the "tent action" people were talking about???)

Guess I'll post this on here too?

And feel free to stop in at Robot City before hand. We open at 10. Just tell me you're from klov and ask for a key. If you really want that arcade experience, feel free to drop quarters but it's not necessary. We do not accept or beg for donations ;) If you want to give us money you'll have to buy something :( Anyhow, if you're going to be in town early, feel free and use your klov discount top play games for free!

Game list:
Playchoice 10 with 10 games
Arkanoid
Roadblasters
Gaplus (currently with a Galaga 3 board because people play it more. Just like the 80s!)
Crater Raider
Clowns
TV Hockey
Sea Wolf (maybe)
Lethal Enforcers (board is out getting the sound fixed but it'll be back by then)
Tekken 5 (yuck!)
Centipede
Pole Position
Mappy
Vs Super Mario Bros
Tetris mini
Crystal Castles
DK Junior
Gyruss (Jeff, make yours Time Pilot for the day! I haven't played that game in 20+ years)
Super Pacman
Mario Bros
Galaga
Demolition derby (4 player )
Satan's Hollow
Qbert
Frogger
Pac-Man
Donkey Kong

This line up has changed some with me getting new games and taking some home that people don't play much. Sadly I've been replacing a few classics with not so classics (Just like the late 80's/early 90's!) It might change before then.

Final call on the shirts...
VFAD-2012.jpg

I'm going to be putting the t-shirt order in tonight after work so if you know you want one let me know your size. It's looking like $10 for up to a XL and $12 for XXL. I should have a couple extra for the day of the get together... but I'm not sure how many and what sizes.

T-shirt list as of 06/25/12:
The Vidiots - XXL, XL, S, YXL
SRW - XL, XL
Tim - M, L
Broodwich - XL
Kawydud - XXL
melchman - L
nuckinfuts68 - XL, XL
Mr. Do - L

[EDIT]
Shirts are ordered and there are only these extra...

2 - XL
1 - XXL

If for some unknown reason I have enough interest to order 6 more I can, but that's the minimum to place an order.

I'll be sure to post a picture of one once it arrives. :)
