Video: Q*bert's Quest (1983)

i think there's one at PHOF - i'd have to dig through my pics to be sure, but i recall passing it in one of the rows...

those flippers kill me - it'd take me forever to get used to the fact that the two levels are opposite for a given button.

You don't see this game very often so I thought I'd share one of my newest finds (that needed a lot of fixing):

I remember playing this game in the arcades. Always liked it.
Thanks for sharing. Great game. Looks like it played pretty well to me. What needs fixing? So what's the story on where you found and how you got it?

Not really much of a story. I saw it for sale on Kijiji, selling for more than I thought it was worth, sent the seller my offer and he accepted. I like John Trudeau's games and rarities so I nabbed it.

I bought two new springs for the upper roll-unders and they're too strong! The game rewards a player ('stops' a villain) for making 3/4 of a figure-8 from the bottom flippers BUT the ball is slowed down too much by the upper gates gate so it never crosses to the 3rd point/gate, inches away. One of the posts holding the gate has stripped the wood so it wobbles a bit too.

The pic is when I first brought QBQ home. You might notice the obligatory rubber blocking a broken section of the board (see left), rubber-less flippers and mismatched drop and stand-up targets.

Since then, all the proper ground mods, pop bumper board upgrades, flipper rebuilds have been done, all board capacitors updated and the CPU is like new with all the IC re-socketing I had to do to resurrect it. New yellow stand-up targets, new drop targets w/ decals, I already have a NOS plastic set, NOS manual and might build a fancy topper that I already designed. But it still needs a proper shop job.

Nice pickup Otto! Played one @ Expo and a collector had one where I picked up one of my pins.

Interesting pin... not sure what to do since I kept hitting the drop targets and the upper left shot.

Yours looks to be in pretty good shape! The guy, who I picked up my pin, had his playfield touchup(d?) and cleared also managed to find a NOS backglass - hate to find how much that cost!

Nice Stargate too....
