So I found an old Arkanoid connector in my piles thats the same as Video Pinball. I want to make up a test rig to troubleshoot this thing on the bench. Basically the game takes unregulated 10v and turns it into 5v. As far as powering it on the bench, if just using a switcher, can I run 12v into where the unreg 10v goes, or just clip 5v to where the 5v output would be (big heavy resistor)?

I don't know about Video Pinball, but typically unregulated 10V could easily be as high as 12V, and you could turn the voltage down to get 12V closer to 10V. Do you know how much current it needs though? It may be more than a normal switcher can output on the 12V line.

With no direct Video pinball experience, but lots of experience with powering other stuff, I'd personally just power it directly on the +5V rail, assuming the +10V isn't needed for anything else (audio amp, etc).

Seemed to work fine - had 5.1v on the 5v line. The wiring isn't the thickest but it didn't get warm at all, so I don't think this board is a hungry critter like some others.
