I am looking into purchasing a video pattern tester. I know Happ carries the wells version for $180.00 or so. Any recommendations for others?

Thanks in advance.

Konami had a JAMMA PCB that was not a game but a cabinet tester. Tested switches and generated video. I've only seen one. Might be some out there someplace.

Those are pretty cool little tools.. But you can get an oldschool one off eBay for cheap.. Even modern used ones are under $50.. Heck, I paid $20 for mine.. It's a little homebrew box with a dial for dots, squares, and a grid.. Also has 3 switches for R, G, B.. Plugs in the wall or takes batteries..

Came with a split connector for both positive and negative sync.. They are out there if you want to save a few bucks..

Thanks Tim.

$180? FWIW, i've used the Wells generator for as long as its been out. Never fails and it works on a wide variety of monitors.

Are you talking about this one?

Could i extend the existing rgb connector on pattern generator say another 8 inches. Mainly to make it easier to see the front of the screen.??

Now I just need a high voltage probe.

I've used a 25' VGA cable with the VGA --> CGA little breakout board without issue for a long time.
