NEW VIDEO: OneCircuit's CoinUp Installation

Nice Jimbo. IMO, this is one of the coolest things out there. Just so simple. Perfect for games that don't have a freeplay mode, like my Crystal Castles. :)

Thanks! Yeah, Adam really did a bang-up job on this. Such a slick, real solution.

Jim, great video.

At the end you said you were also going to install this on Marble Madness - MM has a great freeplay mode and I don't think you'd get much of a different experience with the coin-up there. What's your thinking behind that?

Thanks. Yeah, I talked about that in the video, and explained it. I really enjoy the credit sound (the big bell "gong") it makes when it's coined up. You don't get that when it's on freeplay. I had an extra coinup anyway -- although I may re-purpose it if needed down the road. :)

I knew that's what it was before you even answered. Though I always heard it more as a 'bong' than a 'gong'.

Thought I'd record a video of the installation of Adam's (ajcrm125) coinup device. Pretty awesome little gadget!

Bump for a great video showing exactly how to install the CoinUp-1UP device (in an Arkanoid 2: Revenge of DOH). Very useful!!

Sees Adams name. Searches Pole Position. No update in that thread. Posts it here so others don't have to do the same.

He's a little busy, saving the world. Not sure if you're aware, but that dude travels to third-world countries and volunteers to help starving families. This is on top of his full-time job, and being a good father & husband. He's well aware of the fact that the project isn't complete and I say this because I communicate regularly with the guy.

Yep. Got not beef with it. Better ways to spend all your days than with just video games. That said, i do hope he gets around to it someday.

I finally installed the CoinUp device into my Arkanoid 2 cabinet yesterday. It works great! My install was not nearly so elegant as the OP's. :)

First I assembled four 22 gauge twisted wire strands and connected them to the device terminal blocks. (Pics show only three of the four connections needed. I did ground wiring after the picture—two 22 gauge black wires twisted together.)

Notice my luxurious workspace—the hood of my silver Corolla. I love the second pic there. With the wires sticking out it looks like some forgotten sea creature!! "The CoinUP creature swims silently across the vast surface of the silver Corolla, hunting for its prey."

I placed the board just on the cab side near the control panel, much like in jimbodeanny's video. I let it hang vertically, with the pcb hole at the top. Then I spliced in to the existing wiring, securing each connection with wire nuts/connectors. I spliced in just behind the control panel, where there was enough space/slack to connect everything well.

I tested out the player 1 and player 2 buttons several times to make sure it worked. This'll be esp. useful if this game goes to the public library in a few months. Gotta have a free play option for people...
