The favorite local arcade thread popped up again, so I thought I'd share this short "documentary" video of Playland in State College, PA. Man, I miss that place. Cool that video of it still exists, though.

I frequented Playland while at PSU in the early 90's. We would have some drinks and then spend our washing machine money on video games. I remember playing Ataxx over and over again while intoxicated one night there. What a waste of quarters.

Most of my quarters were spent on Star Wars there, when I was a kid. Though I put a fair amount of quarters in Ms. Pac-Man in the early 2000s as well as Cinematronics World Series Baseball of all things (nostalgia reasons).

I most likely played Dragon's Lair there for the first time, though my parents didn't let me play it very often because it was more expensive and I lasted for most likely .5 seconds on the game.

I only knew Playland as a college student, so no "early arcade" nostaglia there for me. But man did I waste my laundry quarters there. My mom would give me a roll of quarters for laundry when I would go back home to visit- that roll would be gone the next Friday and Saturday late nights.

Cool video thanks for posting. Its a shame but this has pretty much happened everywhere. The only arcades around now a days are Dave and Busters.
