I seem to be hearing a lot lately about video modes that tend to get old quickly. What video modes do you feel are always fun /or have lost their luster? Personally, I have a blast with most video modes. One of my all time favorites is punching out the Peeping Tom in Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Is it IJ that has the mine cart that you have to try to go through without hitting a dead end or bridge out?

And one of the driving ones - like Getaway or Corvette - has a mode where you drive through traffic, swerving from lane to lane, shifting gears to go faster and faster.

Hopefully Tron will have a lightcycle game using the flippers to turn left or right....

I don't mind the T2 video mode either, good chance to score some decent points and you get that "extra ball" target that drops down once in a while. Although I've only seen it maybe 5 times out of 300 games plays and have never hit it.

Hahaha.. Glad I'm not the only one.. It always flys past clear on the other side of the screen. (History Lesson: T2 was the first machine with Video Mode)

Best video mode: Fish Tales
Worst video mode: Cactus Canyon

Have you played Tommy? Now that is a bad video mode (on purpose legend has it, so they wouldn't have to program any more, lol).

The Shadow has a pretty good video mode, one of the best anyways.

I think I would have to give props to IJ and the mine cart, though ST:TNG's mode is also quite good.

I love Johnny Mneumonic but its video mode feels like a good idea that wound up botched. Dot eating game where you go left and right via the left and right primary flippers AND...up and down are secondary flippers. I don't care how many times I play, I always...ALWAYS...screw up which one is up and which one is down. So frustrating.

Dr. Who is another game I love with a bad video mode. It's only bad in that I don't think the pattern ever changes (I've never seen it do anything different...on multiple machines). Beat it once and you've got it down forever. If someone updated the roms so the pattern actually had some randomness...

is everyone forgetting the multiple video modes that williams junkyard has. theres one where you shoot the toast at a girl and a dog running through refridgerators. then if you hit the time machine it will rewind time to another video mode in pinball........creature from black lagoon, move your car is one, i think one is called saucer attack where you stop incoming flying saucers (not sure what game thats from) and it has 2 non video modes for a "knight mission" and "the mamushka" but im not sure what other games those are from

I think Move Your Car in both games is just a regular pinball mode, but you're totally right! Junkyard does have one of the better video modes.

I love all video modes but my favorites are.

STTNG (both the original and poker night with Riker)
Getaway, quick and easy but still fun
AFM, I just recently learned that you get a nuke with the start button!
MM extremely difficult to get to but if you do its a lot of fun!

haha MM and the vultures stealing the babies. I forgot about that one. That one is pretty hard! The home ROM of CV with the Copy Cat game is fun, but it gets old and takes too long to complete.

I know right? The only thing more difficult than the MM video mode is actually getting to the video mode. 8 fires?! ouch. It takes a pretty conscious effort to make that happen.

I don't think the video mode in Bram Stoker's Dracula is all that great, but it IS a nice little diversion that adds another layer of neatness and fun to the game.
