I was putting some extra games into storage. A couple walks by and stops.. Wife walks up to dig dug and hugs it and says "Its my favorite game. The only game I could play"... Would have made a cool pic..

She later tells me she had her son setup dig dug on their Playstation but it just did not feel right. They asked if it was for sale(See my FS listing), So we exchanged numbers and I will call them when its ready. Husband wanted to get a pin, but wife already had a place picked out for it.. She said if there was no room, it was going in the bedroom..

Nice story Bill. Hopefully, all goes well and she gets her grail. :)

She's right. Like any game, Dig Dug sucks when you're not playing on an original. I have it on my iPod Touch, but it's like a "Remix" where they revamp the graphics and sounds. Really lame. There's a "classic" mode but it's still not the same.

Nice story. Now I have More evidence to prove my theory that these games are un-replacible! :)

I know what you mean, It makes todays kids think these games suck. I believe Nintendo dosent even give existence to their arcade games! Just the crappy(no offense to anyone) NES versions..

Does anyone else notice that??

My bet is its going to happen for her.. I told her around $350 and she said "Is that all?" If its does not work out, I am sure dig dug will find a good home. I almost mentioned 60 in 1 to them.. But I kept my mouth shut.. :)

I always tell parents to buy what they like, the kids will play anyting and grow to like it. I once sold a tempest to a family(they wanted a game. The wife wanted tempest). I went back a few months later and she said the neighborhood kids were lined up to play it.

No, I completely agree. As a hardcore Nintendo fan, I'm surprised they never ported their original arcade games to any of their later consoles. They sort of did with the NES, but they were watered down versions. It wouldn't make that big a difference I guess since we all agree none of these ports or remakes are as good as playing on an original.

I'm guessing the biggest reason they don't bother with re-releasing their original arcade classics is that kids nowadays are not going to want to play games from the early 80s. In other words, they aren't going to release anything that won't sell in their minds.

It would be cool for them to at least release Donkey Kong and/or Mario Bros. on the virtual console. I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard for them to do and it would make some profit if they only charge like $5-10 to download it. I have the original but I'd download it for my Wii or DSi for $5-10.

Didn't they do a big deal release of pacman? I remember reading something about the original programmer working on it. I think this was it:

I did a quick search and I found this:

Yeah I've seen that. But what im talking about is how when nintendo talks retro and stuff they never igknowledge of their games being in arcade form. Like companys are trying to erase the existace of arcades!
