So my question is, will any of these converts work with arcade games? Specifically will they convert RGB 15Khz H.sync 60Hz V.sync to 15 pin VGA?
As always gentlemen thank you for all the opinions and best of all the help!

Hey guys,
Thanks for the tip on the Jrok converter. I hadn't seen that one yet. However, from what I was reading it couldn't convert the signal to VGA. The reason I need it converted to VGA is I have a 19" Dell CRT monitor that would fit into most cab's with a small amount of structural modification. I wanted to use this existing monitor for a project. Any ideas, or will any of the 3 links above work?
Again, thanks guys!

The first one will do what you want, but DAMN $141 +shipping?

Thanks for the help Dokert! I know $141+shipping looks steep, but I got the 19" monitor for free. It is a 2003 Dell M992, and in excellent condition. Also, that converter board has a 2 year warranty, so my logic is that I would probably pay that much or more for a 30 year old monitor and chassis with no warranty. I will update everyone with a video on how it works when I finish the game.
Thanks again,
Arcade Greg

CRT arcade monitors don't really cost that much to fix. unless you send them away for repair. just saying.

the quality will never be the same with an LCD either. but whatever works I suppose.

Well like a said I got this fairly new monitor for free, so I can justify buying a brand new with 2 year warranty converter board for that price. Also, my monitor is a CRT. And if the picture quality is really as bad as everyone hypes it to be, then I will return it. Just saying myself.

Well I know nothing about this subject and have absolutely zero interest in converting signals, but it appears JROK also makes a VGA adapter. And a helluva lot cheaper than that $141 one : http://www.gatorcade.com/rgbtovga.html - $81.

I have seen that exact same converter all over ebay for different prices. I have seen these converters go for as low as $25. The problem I have is that all the people selling them are selling the exact same model. Each person that sells it uses the same picture to display the board and some even use the same in-game golden tee pictures and story. So, I am feeling fishy about getting one of those models. Also, I have never seen a video of someone hooking one up or using one. Below is a link for a $40 + shipping converter, and it is the same picture as the Jrok. Does anyone actual own and use one of these converters?
Thanks for the input guys,
Arcade Greg

That is NOT one of my encoders, they're made by Gonbes in China. These have been discussed before. http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=90456&highlight=gonbes

James,
Thanks for the post. Your encoder is made by Gonbes in China? Or their encoder is? It is good to know that I can chat with the distributor of a product. I just want to be as informed as possible, so as to limit any misunderstading or technical issues upon ordering the board. Maybe you can further explain if the application I am using the board for will work properly? Dokert has told me that your board will work in the application I am trying to achieve, but hearing it from you would be reassuring. I have a 19" Dell CRT monitor, it is a 2003 Model#M992. Below I have posted a link of the monitor spec's. From these specs can you tell if the board will work on a dedicated Pacman (or any other classic arcade or JAMMA)?
Thanks for the help everyone, you guys are unreal nice,
Arcade Greg

The converter you listed that was on epay will work for you. The big thing is that you will need a 5V DC adaptor that handles 2Amps not 1Amp, if I recall correctly.

No mine aren't made by Gonbes.

James,
Believe it or not, I am still a little confused. In an earlier post ballytablewiz posted a link to a RGB to VGA converter at gatorcade. Is that one your converter? If it is, what is the difference between your converter and the Gonbes converter? I am not an expert at this and, in fact, I am just getting started at working on arcade games, so any explaination would help.
Thanks!

I have used the cheap CGA to VGA converters from ebay and they work fine.
