Had a few mins before work this AM so I quickly recorded a video while working on a DK with no audio.

If you've ever had the bad luck of breaking off a leg or 2 from a crusty old IC then this vid's for you. :D

Enjoy!

Amazing. Your vids are always so down-to-earth and easy to follow.

I love the way you take seemingly impossible topics and break them down in layman's terms. I also love how you're cheap and like to do things like solder legs back on IC's :D

I vote Adam for contributor of the year!

Nice, Adam! I like the socket trick. I've done it before with just a heavy capacitor lead if I just had one broken one off. Did it on a PPU.

Yep me too. Works great on a chip that has say one bum leg. Sadly this one was in rougher shape. :p

A nice buffet of Adam videos lately. Me likes! Always learning something new when I watch them, and going through your videos before I looked at a schematic for my monitor chassis helped me understand exactly what was going on. I'm from a science background myself, so logical, systematic type things like monitor chassis and game PCBs make me smile. :)

I've splinted legs on broken IC's by "borrowing" a leg from another broken/trashed IC of the same type. Usually if the legs break off, it's on the skinny part down low, and you are left with enough meat on the bone up high to splint another leg on and tack it in place with solder.
