"vid ret"?

H freq is the one that you want, you may also have to adjust the V hold too. Make sure that you are not off one pin on the video header as it is easy to do when hooking up in a Centipede.

Just looked at the video again, and you will need to adjust the V hold also.

Would adjusting the width coil help at all? The Hfreq isnt helping. Its definitely changing the pattern, but I cant get it to hold

nope, adjust the v hold, it is located above the H freq pot the farthest pot toward the top. There are four pots H freq would be #1 and V hold would be #4.

Right, I know where they are, but I cant get them to hold. The best ive done is rapidly moving lines diagonally. Everytime I think Im getting close, it gets worse. I simply cant get it to hold

The only other thing that would cause it not to come up correct and hold would be if the yoke wires are not set correct for a Defender. (Centipede might have the yoke set up backwards for a Defender) Can you get close enough to the Pacman or the Galaxian to use their monitor?

I hooked it up to both and no luck. The Galaxian almost even had the same monitor the Defender used to. But I believe all the yokes are wired differently.

Yeah, there is a chip on the Defender CPU that controls the sync signal, so that is probably your problem.

Still, if the Centipede monitor hasn't been rebuilt in a while, the hold tolerance for it may have such a small window that the differing sync frequency of the Defender signal may not fit into that window, even though the Centipede sync frequency still does.

Also, some G07's were shipped with incorrect resistors in the sync circuit which would cause signals to not sync. If I remember correctly, those resistors are in the positive sync circuit (which Defender uses). It might be worth checking...

Well if that was the case, the Pac and Galaxian monitors should have worked, right?
