Alright... I am going to make an updated video of the gameroom shortly and I wanted some opinions...

Should I:

(A) Just STFU and walk from game to game with some nice tunes playing in the background (80's stuff surely)...

(B) Walk from game to game explaining what's on camera (again, with 80's music playing in the background)

(C) Walk from game to game going in to detail about what has been done with each games restoration-wise (of course with 80's music playing in the background)

I have a "big dumb voice" IMHO (who actually likes their own voice?) so I have a tendency to go with (A)... but what do YOU people like to see? Again, on other peoples vids I tend to just like to look at the games with some tunes in the background, but what the hell, I'd go in to details if it was requested.

Just make sure to run the front ends on yer mames. The last movie of your trackball mame actually helped me "discover" a few trackball games that I play all the time now.

It's all good to me. I personally like the "no talk - music in the background" videos - a bonus is the guys who drop in text with brief descriptions, but this would take extra time on your side.

That being said, your last one was good because you have a lot of modded "multi-games" where the explanation helps. By the way, your voice is fine - but I know what you mean, I don't like the sound of my voice either.

All videos are good :D I appreciate the time people put in.

C. oh....and .....No Music.... and have the lights on so the auto focus doesn't eff up everything.

Heh, nobody likes their voice :D I've taken videos with the intention of posting them, only to scrap them as I couldn't stand the way I sounded in it...
To answer the question, I say do both.
I mean it probably wouldn't be that hard to remove the audio from the video and replace it with background music. When you film the video, film it with narration, then pull the audio and replace it with the background music. That way, you could basically post a vid of A and C, and let everyone choose which one to watch...
If I had to pick just one though I'd go with C, I like hearing the stories behind the games...

It isn't your voice you should worry about, the most annoying talking vids have had more to do with rambling, imho. Keep it concise and moving along and don't worry about the voice.

Do both A & C .

A - with the lights off and cool music so its like being at your arcade .

C - Details about each game , condition it was in when you got it , what you've done to it and any special features that make that game different from the other games .

STFU and just show the gameroom. Better yet, skip the video and just take some nice pictures instead. There's nothing more annoying that when we just want to see the games and instead we have to listen to a dissertation about each and every one. Just get to the point and show the games already. Watch Jon's videos, and use them as an example of what not to do.

Photos/descriptions = we enjoy the information at our own pace (very slowly or very quickly)

Video/narrative = it's all about you and your bullshit narrative. If we can suffer through more than 30 seconds of it, we might actually learn something about your gameroom. I sure as hell won't make it to the end of the video.

If you just HAVE to do a video, show the games and play some good music in the background, and leave it at that.

D - Invite people over to be videoed while having great time playing cool games.

These videos of empty arcade/gamerooms freak me out.

Just don't sound like oprah on a crack high screaming OMGWTFBBQ!!

This is YOUR video, of YOUR games, do what YOU want to do. Personally I like narative videos, as long as you know what you are talking about. It's pretty annoying when someone (usually kids) start making gaming videos and try to act knowledgable when they dont even have a clue. If you fall into this category then just show some gameplay and cabinet shots.

I would be careful about music, make sure if you do it, that its in the background and that the games are the forefront of your video. YouTube has really been cracking down on copyrighted music in videos. I'd hate to see you go thru alot of work, editing ect. just to see your video get muted or deleted.

Games On
Music Playing loud enough to be heard but low enough that you can hear the games
Start with a long shot of the room wait 5 seconds then start walking
Scroll down each side of the room
Walk through slowly enough that you see each game
Walk through fast enough that the video doesn't drag along
When you have shown all games turn back to the room and fade out
No longer than 2 minutes

Oh yeah, although it isn't very "arcade like", turn on the lights. A dim arcade where you can only see the marquees and monitors is like a video of 95% black. Go ahead and hit the lights so we can see what you're trying to show off.

Either no talking or be in the video explaining stuff.

That's the way I'm doing my next video for sure. Someone holds the camera and walks from game to game, while you can point out things you've done, show a couple sample screen shots, and just add a bit of interest from all the others gameroom videos.
