I was noticing that it looks kinda annoying to post massive pics to the thread as they sorta jump out at you too much. It's also funny to see one guy post a medium sized pic and another guy post a MASSIVE pic on top... it's like talking ALL CAPS.

For my own pics I've been trying to keep them under 800 wide.

Anyone else think that there's an optimal pic size. It would be cool to standardize.

Whenever I post a picture to the web, I try to keep the size down for just the reason you mention. Plus giant photos kill people that are on a slow connection.

I try to keep it around 640x480 max

I always size my web images to 200dpi at 4" x 3" for horizontal or 3" x 4" vertical. When I save I save as a "web image" which changes the dpi to 72 dpi by whatever size...

Examples:

3x4 @ 200DPI:

4x3 @ 200DPI:

I was hoping you'd notice that I retrofitted all my old posts with smaller pics after you called me on it. :)

I think 800 pixels wide is a good standard. Sorry for being forum-illiterate before.

I post as big as I can for clarity of image. My photobucket account auto-sizes them down to 1 meg if they are bigger than that. My browser auto-sizes them down to the width of my screen so I don't have to scroll.

And if anyone is still on dial-up, they can use the extra time it takes to DL a pic to play their games...
