So I just picked up a blast city cab and Im super excited to finally have a monitor that displays 31hz. The only problem is it displays horizontal clear lines that roll vertiacally up the screen. I have been told this is most likeley due to a ground loop but honestly I have no idea how to fix the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated and Merry Christmas to everyone. Oh and the monitor is a Nanoa MS-2931

Here is a video

Well, if it's moving that slowly, then it probably is a grounding issue. The simple way to fix it would be to attach a wire to your monitor frame, and run it down to the power supply ground. If there are other lines that appear but don't move, then turn your brightness down slightly...

Thanks so much the lines are deffinately moving its not like the jailbars you get when your flyback is cranked up. I will give this a try and post my results.

Do you have any other games? If you can get two close together, you can swap the power connectors from one cabinet to the other monitor, just to make sure you're not getting some odd ripple through the power lines. IF YOU DO THIS, make sure that both games have isolation transformers if one of the monitors requires them.

Without seen an actual video of YOUR monitor, it's hard to diagnose. It's possible that you may have an issue with the AC filtering on the chassis.

Or maybe you're experience Hum Bar. Read more about it here (happens on other games than Pac-Man):

Hmm. That may be connector/cable related. Or possibly an issue with the video output.

Normally, I'd say recap it and check solder, but with a VGA, there's no telling what would cause that...

The caps look good and I checked for cold solders. I changed the vga cable and ran it in all hz 15,24,31 to no avail. I guess recapping is cheap and couldn't hurt. I also had some corrision on one of the fuses and fuse holders. I cleaned up the fuse but the holder is goin be hard. I will try the fuseholder, then runing off of a different psu then I will recap and post my results. Thanks again for all the help.

After hours of trail and error and wanting to bang my head against the wall I finally got it! I will post details and pics tommorow so those with this problem in the future will know how to fix this issue. Thanks again modessitt for all your help and advice.

Your tomorrow was yesterday!!

Please, i'm having the same issue, and I'd love to know what you did to resolve yours/

Sorry for the delay holidays you know. After trying all that was advised to me plus some of my own home remedys I was getting discouraged because nothing helped at all. I eventually began to unplug things from the main psu. Much to my dismay even when I ran just the monitor on the main psu and the board on a separate one there was no change. Finally I popped the monitor bezel off (for what reason I do not know) and underneath I found 3 connectors. I wiggled them around and nothing happened. Just for shits and giggles I decided to unplug them thinking the monitor would go out. I started with the six pin on the far left and BAM my monitor was just as beautiful as the day it rolled out of the factory. I then tried putting a line filter around the wires and plugged it back in only to find the monitor looked like crap again. In all honesty I don't know what's causing the problem I just know if I leave the 6 pin harness unplugged it looks beautiful so I think I am gonna leave it that way at least untill some one can shed some light on the situation because I am completely stumped as far as getting it working with the connector plugged in. Oh yea and I hope everybody has a happy new year!

Here are some pics let me know if you have any other questions

What's at the other end of those wires? Perhaps it's a duplicate video input (sometimes used when manufacturers aren't sure what kit will be installed) and it was causing interference...

The other end of the wires connects to the chassis underneathe the vga inpud so I think that is a fair assumption. how about you JDGJr did that fix your problem?

I had the same symptoms, but a different monitor. I've never had the pleasure of working on a monitor like the ones in your photos.
