Gentlemen,
I bought a Marvel vs Capcom II with a U5000 in it. I had to replace the naomi system, but everything else was complete and ready to go. Now that I have it hooked up, the picture has a rapid vertical scroll. The pots adjust, but do little to actually help. I am used to working with k7000s and this U5000 is new territory. My dip switch on the naomi system is set to 15K. The pinout wires for the input go to 1)red, 2)green, 3)blue, 4)gnd, and 5)vertical. I am assuming this set up is correct because this is the U5000 that was originally working in this machine with this wire set up. What else do you recommend I do?

try moving the synk wire to pin 10 on the input header.

1. red
2. green
3. blue
4. black-ground
5. empty
6. empty
7. key
8. black-ground if used
9. empty
10. synk

Peace
Buffett

Actually, you can use it on either pin 6 or pin 10, as they are tied together on the board.

If your sync is wired correctly, the next step is to check Q601, D600, and maybe even U701 or U702...

u5000 is a switchable chassis.....it can do both standard res and medium res. Since you haven't mentioned multiple images, I assume it has the jumper in the correct position....it's the big multipin plug that is in the middle of the board. if the pot does nothing, use a meter to see if the pot is good, since you seem to have the sync hooked up correctly.

The vertical is pins 5 and 9. Horizontal is 6 and 10. On this cabinet, only the vertical is wired to the U5000 (pin 5). Should the horizontal also be wired?

Also, the pot does work, but I cannot get it to hold. It just scrolls one way then the other as I adjust it.

That was it, removed the connection from vertical and hooked up just the horizontal. Picture is perfect. Thanks a lot.
