So I have this Tron I'm cleaning up for the movie release. It was pretty beat when I got it and some one here suggested vertical grade Formica for the sides.

Came out pretty nice if I do say so myself.

SO, wait... You just bought the laminate to put on the Tron, or you bought the laminate attached to wood and had to cut it?

(I'm assuming just the laminate)

And yeah, that looks sweet!

Just the laminate. This vertical grade is thinner then the counter top stuff so its not poking off of the side of the cab past the t-molding as much and it seems to be easier to adhere to the cabinet.

You're welcome :) Vertical grade is always about 1/3 to 1/2 the price of surface grade. If you can find a supply store willing to sell it to you it goes for about 15/18 bucks a sheet but you probably need a tax ID to buy it.

Matt, what was the sheen like on these? Matte, semi-gloss...? I'm pretty happy with the stock "grade 10" Formica I got at Lowes, but I may change my mind after I do the sides and try to make the t-molding look right.

I'd say its some where between matte and semi-gloss. No where near the sheen of the original material on the side of Tron but I still think it looks good.
